Who is Sullivan Sweeten?

Sullivan Skye Sweeten was born on 12 May 1995, in Brownwood, Texas, USA, and is an actor, best known for being a cast member in the television sitcom entitled “Everybody Loves Raymond”, alongside his identical twin brother Sawyer. His brother made headlines in 2015 when he committed suicide.

The Wealth of Sullivan Sweeten

Sullivan Sweeten has a net worth estimated to be over $2 million, mostly earned thanks to success in his acting projects. Later in life, he moved away from acting projects, only appearing occasionally.

Life and Career

Sawyer grew up in Brownwood alongside his brother and an older sister. His parents later separated and they lived with their mother, who remarried and had four more children. The family later moved to California which opened the door for them to try acting auditions, thanks to their proximity to one of the hubs of the entertainment industry. Less than a year after their move, the three were cast in the television sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond”.

The show began airing in 1996, and the twins along with their sister became a few of the main cast members of the show, which ran for over nine seasons and 210 episodes.

Other cast members of the show included Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, and Brad Garrett. As the title denotes, the series follows the life of Raymond, an Italian-American working as a sportswriter in Long Island, and features his day-to-day endeavors, including his struggles with his family. Raymond is often shown as an easy-going person who tries to make a joke, even in bad situations. As the show progressed, other characters and their stories were also focused, including Raymond’s wife and children.

Everybody Loves Raymond’ cast

The show gained a lot of popularity and critical acclaim throughout its run, winning 15 Emmy Awards out of 69 nominations.

Sister – Madylin Sweeten

While all three siblings were introduced to careers in acting, it was only Madylin who transitioned successfully to consistent acting work as she grew into adulthood. She had other projects while working on “Everybody Loves Raymond”, including the 1999 film “A Dog of Flanders”, based on the novel of the same name written by Ouida, which has been adapted numerous times for film and television. She also did voice work for the film “Toy Story 2”, mainly working on additional voices.

In 2003, she was cast in the film “American Splendor” a biography about Harvey Pekar who is the author of the comic book series of the same name as the film, and starring Paul Giamatti and Hope Davis. After a five year break, she returned to film with the project “Eagle Eye” in which she portrayed Becky. The film starred Shia LeBeouf, and tells the story of two strangers who must work together, as they are forced by an unknown woman who is using technology to track their every movement. One of her latest appearances was a minor role in “Grey’s Anatomy”.

Twin Brother and His Death

Unlike, their sister, Sullivan’s twin Sawyer only had a couple of projects other than “Everybody Loves Raymond”. He worked on an episode of “Even Stevens”, a Disney series about the life of the Stevens family. He also had a film project entitled “Frank McKlusky, C.I.”, a comedy about an insurance claims investigator starring David Sheridan and Kevin Farley. After the end of “Everybody Loves Raymond”, he didn’t take any more acting projects.

In 2015, many were shocked when Sawyer passed away after shooting himself in the head, just two weeks before the twin’s birthday; they were living in the same house at the time.

Many of his co-stars from “Everybody Loves Raymond” spoke out following the news. Ray Romano reminisced the time they were together, and Patricia Heaton was saddened by his passing. The creator of the show Phil Rosenthal also spoke out, and commended the efforts of the siblings. His sister Madilyn also spoke, stressing the importance of reaching out to loved ones. Sullivan, on the other hand, chose to remain silent throughout the entire ordeal.

Information later surfaced that Sawyer was driven to kill himself following troubles with his finances, as he found himself in a very dire debt situation. He was also constantly bullied, with people pointing out his failed acting career after “Everybody Loves Raymond”. Rumors also started spreading that he was gay.

Personal Life

Sullivan is known to be single, and there has been no news about any romantic relationships. He’s been quiet and out of the spotlight since his brother’s death, only taking one other acting project in recent years. Many suspected that he moved away from acting, as it must be painful to be involved in a profession connected to someone dear to you who passed away. There were also concerns for him, as he may have understood and felt what his twin brother went through, an association common with twins.

  1. It breaks my heart, deeply, that people can be so cruel. Sawyer, and Sullivan was a blessing to ELR, and to the public and I can’t imagine how Sullivan must feel. I just want to say to Sullivan , No matter what people may say or think. You are important, and no matter what you choose to do in life, you are worth more than you know. A lot of people love and care about you, and you should live your life to the fullest, every single day. God bless your brother, he is greatly missed. God bless you as well, as long as God loves you, and he does, you will be whatever you choose to be in life. 🙏🌹
