The Riches of Geno Segers
How rich is Geno Segers? As of late-2019, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $300,000, earned through a successful career as an actor. He’s been in the entertainment industry since 2004, and has also worked on several film projects.
Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings
Geno was raised by his parents in North Carolina, and at a young age developed a strong ability when it came to athletic activities. While in high school he was in several teams, including track, wrestling and football. After matriculating from high school, he enrolled at Western Carolina University (WCU), and played football for the school’s team.
WCU is a public university which is part of the University of North Carolina system. It is the fifth oldest institution in the system, and has around 12,000 in its student population. It is one of the three schools in North Carolina to take steps towards making its tuition affordable and accessible. This has led to a strong increase in attendance in the last few years. After graduating, he decided to pursue a career in professional sports, joining the American National Rugby League, which led him to play for the US team and win two caps against the Wales national team in 1995. Afterwards, he decided to move to New Zealand to play for the team, the Richmond Rovers.
During his time in New Zealand, Segers heeded the suggestion of a friend that he should try auditioning for voice ads on radio. He had a natural bass tone that got him a lot of attention, and eventually an agent caught wind of him, casting him in an Australian production of “The Lion King” in which he portrayed the character of Mufasa. Soon, more acting projects would come his way, and he appeared in films in China before making his way to Hollywood.
In 2011, he became the host of “Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge”, originally a UK game show that was produced in the US in collaboration with Disney XD. In the game, six teams of teenagers battle it out in various challenges until one remains as the champion. He stayed there for a year, and while doing the show, he was also cast as a series regular in the Disney XD show “Pair of Kings”. The sitcom was filmed in front of a live studio audience, and follows two Chicago teens who discover that they are rulers of a fictitious island nation in the Pacific.
Continued Rise to Fame and Recent Projects
Geno stayed in “Pair of Kings” for three years and a total of 52 episodes until the show ended in 2013. A year later, he had a two episode role in the show “Teen Wolf”, a supernatural series loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name, following the story of a teenager who is bitten by a werewolf, and has to learn how to manage his life with this new development.
After an appearance in “Castle”, he was then cast as a regular of the show “Banshee” from its second season. The show aired on Cinemax and is set in a small town in Pennsylvania’s Amish country, following the story of an ex-convict who pretends to be the town’s murdered sheriff to try and hide from a crime lord. He appeared in two seasons, and then moved on to other television projects. A few of his latest works include voicing Gyrgan in the animated show “Voltron: Legendary Defender”, a reboot of the “Voltron” franchise, airing on Netflix.
