Mike has been into comedy ever since he turned eight – it was then that he met Gian Hunjan, his best friend whose sense of humor fits with his own. They instantly began writing funny scripts together and were working on their own sketches.
They went on to attend the same high school, and started working at the same restaurant – Mike believes the restaurant marked the beginning of their career in comedy, as they started entertaining the staff there on a daily basis.
After he matriculated from high school, Mike enrolled at New York University and graduated four years later with a bachelor’s degree.
Career of a comedian and a YouTuber
Mike spent most of his time at New York University partying and playing video games with his friends and roommates. They were six guys living together and spent most of their time playing “Halo” video game – they had a store across the street where they bought beer and didn’t even have to spend much time outside.
It is during this period of his life that Mike came up with most ideas for his and Gian’s sketches.
While they were attending their senior year, Mike and Gian began working on their first comedy show – they started uploading their videos onto the internet, and although they were receiving positive critiques, there were not many people watching their videos.
The duo did not give up – they began working all the jobs they could find to try and launch their careers as actors. One of the weirdest jobs they had was taking care of an autistic kid, spending time with him at a camp, and taking him on trips.
At the same time, Mike was working on achieving a personal trainer certification, as he was interested in working out and at this point was not focused on his career as a comedian.
In the first half of 2009, Dom Mazzetti was created – Mike came up with the idea while working out at the gym, although he was initially only supposed to appear in a video about cooking. Dom is a stupid, middle-aged guy from Italy, and never appeared in the video, but later in a sketch similar to the UPS bomb scare in 2011.
In the video, Dom was giving an interview about how to handle a bomb scare, and it soon went viral – Dom’s popularity motivated Mike and Gian to continue using this character, and they steadily began gathering fans on the internet.
Most of the videos they uploaded after that featured Mike as Dom Mazzetti talking about fitness and life at the university – in some of his videos, Dom made fun of the bro-science you can often see in the fitness industry, which is what got him his nickname Bro Science Guy.
Mike and Gian launched their YouTube channel on 10 December 2012, and there are currently more than 2.3 million people subscribed to it, which also counts almost 370 million views of all their videos combined. On the channel, they only upload funny content, with most videos featuring Mike as Dom Mazzetti.
Training and dieting
Mike became very passionate about exercising and staying fit, and he has five to six training sessions at the gym each week. He first began going to the gym at the age of 14 and has since created his own workout routine, but hasn’t shared it with the public.

Mike maintains a degree of privacy concerning his romantic relationships, preferring not to disclose many details about his past or present partners to the public.
His current girlfriend, Lee Marie Deming, crossed paths with Mike years ago at the gym. Despite both frequenting the same gym for approximately a year, their paths had not yet intersected. It wasn’t until Mike serendipitously encountered Lee during a stroll around the gym that their connection began to blossom.
