Daniel William Wood was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts USA, on 14 May 1969 – his zodiac sign is Taurus and he holds American nationality. Danny is a singer, songwriter, record producer and an actor, but best known for being a member of the New Kids on the Block boy band.

Early life and education

Danny was raised in Dorchester by his father Daniel, a mechanic, and his mother Elizabeth who was a teacher before she passed away on 19 September 1999 from cancer. Danny has a brother named Brett and four sisters – Bethany, Melissa, Pam and Rachel.

He grew up being interested in music, and was a big fan of David Bowie with the first record he ever bought being Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”. He began taking singing lessons as the age of seven, and was at the same time learning how to play the guitar and the piano. He attended Dorchester High School, and after matriculation, Danny focused on his career as a singer, thus not enrolling at college.

Career as a singer

Danny released his solo debut album “D-Fuse: Room Full of Smoke” in 1999, but did not gain recognition until his second album – “D-Wood: Room Full of Smoke, Vol. 2” – was released in 2003.

It made him somewhat popular and he went on to release his third album entitled “Second Face” in the same year as well as his acoustic tour exclusive album “O.F.D: Originally from Dorchester”. In 2008, he released his fifth album “Coming Home” and in the following year worked on his “Stronger: Remember Betty” album. His seventh and latest album is “Look at Me” which was released in 2016. Some of the singles which made Danny somewhat popular are “When the Lights Go Out” released in 2003 and “Look at Me” released in 2015.

Danny is mostly famous for being a member of the New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) boy band, and is currently their singer, guitarist, and key choreographer.

The band consists of brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny. They were mostly popular in the late ‘80s and early 90’s, selling more than 80 million records worldwide winning two American Music Awards in 1990, one for favorite pop/rock band, duo, or group, and the other for favorite pop/rock album. The band disbanded in 1994 only to officially reunite once again in 2008, while their secret reunion was in 2007 when they recorded a new album.

The first album they released after their reunion was “The Block” on 2 September 2008.

They continued performing, and reached #16 on the “Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments” list compiled by the “Rolling Stone” monthly magazine. They were collaborating with the Backstreet Boys band in 2011 and 2012 going by the name NKOTBSB, but on 9 October 2014, New Kids on the Block received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Some of the movies and TV series Danny has appeared in during the years are the “Tequila Express” action drama film released in 2002 which stars Cristopher Atkins and Anthony Azizi, and the “Fuller House” TV series in 2016, which follows D.J. Fuller, a mother of three boys, who has to live in a full house after her sister Stephanie, her best friend Kimmy and her teenage daughter all move in to live with her.

Danny was also cast to appear in the “Beyond the Case” TV series, but which was cancelled before airing any episodes.

Danny met his ex-wife Patricia Patty Alfaro at a party in Boston in 1994 – the two began dating not long after, and married on 7 December 1997. They were together for almost nine years before divorcing on 10 March 2006 due to what appears to be infidelity on Danny’s part. In March 1999, Patricia gave birth to their daughter Vega, and in 2000 Danny and Patricia adopted a girl from Russia named Chance, who was born in 1998.

Danny dated numerous women before meeting Patricia, and has a son named Daniel Jr. born in 1992 whose mother is one of Danny’s ex-girlfriends named Elise Stepherson whom he dated from 1990 to 1993. Danny is believed to be a womanizer, and has stated that his muscular body and his successful career in music often attracts women’s attention, making it easy for him to find new partners. However, he is apparently now living a single life in Boston, Massachusetts.

Hobbies and other interests

Danny has been into bodybuilding since he was a teenager, and started going to the gym while attending his senior year, but was physically very active even before that, as he played football for the school’s team, and was a swimmer.
