Joshua Michael Elliott was born on the 6th July 1971, in Los Angeles, California USA, to a mother named Susan who gave him up for adoption – his adoptive parents were Charles Elliott and Toni Jordan, but they divorced when he was 13 years old, after Charles came out as gay, and just two years later passed away. Josh went to Loyola High School of Los Angeles, and following matriculation, enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He aspired to become a member of the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men’s water polo team, however, he actually ended up contributing to the university’s paper, The Daily Nexus. Joshua earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature in 1993, and later obtained a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

After he graduated from UCSB, Josh started working as a stringer for the Santa Barbara News-Press.

His next media house was 20th Century Fox, working in comedy development, but soon switched to physical production. Once he got his master’s degree, Josh joined Sports Illustrated for the next six years, covering all major sports events.

As his career developed, Josh started receiving offers, and in 2004 he joined ESPN.

His first task was serving as a panellist for the shows “Around the Horn”, and “Jim Rome is Burning”. His time on-air increased overtime, and he began co-hosting “Cold Pizza” and “ESPNEWS”, and had his own reports which aired during “SportsCenter”. He subsequently teamed up with Hannah Storm as the co-host of “SportsCenter”, for the three-hour block starting at 9:00 a.m.

After ESPN, Josh became a member of ABC, as he joined the anchors on “Good Morning America”, replacing Juju Chang, and in three years at the ABC also worked on “ABC World News”, and “Good Afternoon America”. Thanks to his hard work, Josh was recruited by NBC where he remained from March 2014 to December 2015, but appearing only on “NBC Sports” and its “2014 Kentucky Derby”.

Elliott joined CBS News in March 2016, but his engagement lasted only until February 2017 when he was fired.

Nevertheless, he had become quite popular, as one of his main tasks was lead anchor of the digital news service CBSN.
