The American film, TV, theater and voice actress Alanna Ubach, is perhaps known best for her appearance in the “Legally Blonde” film series. She has also lent her voice to characters in various animated movies and TV series.
Age, Early Life, and Education Background
Alanna Noel Ubach was born in Downey, California, under the Libra zodiac sign on 3 October 1975, which makes her 48 years old as of 2023. She is the daughter of Sidna Ubach and Rodolfo Ubach, and is of Mexican roots from her mother’s side and Puerto Rican through her father. Ubach has an elder sister named Athena Ubach, with whom she appeared in the 1997 comedy-drama film “Clockwatchers.” Athena doubles as a family and marriage therapist.

Acting Career
‘90s
In 1992, Ubach was cast to star as Josie in the educational children’s program “Beakman’s World.” Her two-year stint in the show brought her to public attention., then in 1994, Ubach was commended by “The New York Times” for her portrayal of a Jewish girl in the play “Kindertransport,” which was performed at the Manhattan Theater Club. She appeared in various films in the mid- to late-‘90s, including the 1997 comedy-drama “Clockwatchers” and the 1999 drama “The Starling Case.” She also appeared in an episode or two of numerous TV series, including the CBS fantasy drama “Touched by an Angel.”
2000s
2001 saw Ubach play Serena McGuire in the romantic comedy “Legally Blonde”, a role she reprised in the second installment of the film, which was released in 2003. In 2002 and 2003, Ubach was cast in the animated series “Teamo Supremo” and “Ozzy & Drix.” Ubach was later cast in the 2004 Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro-starred comedy “Meet the Fockers,” in which she dyed her hair gray and put on a fat suit to perfectly portray the 40-year-old character, Isabel Villalobos. Ubach voiced various characters in the CGI-animated kid’s series “Higglytown Heroes” (2004-2008), “El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera” (2007 and 2008), and “The Spectacular Spider-Man” (2008 and 2009), among others. She’s also credited with voicing Dander in the 2008 animated superhero movie “Batman: Gotham Knight.”
2010s-Present
From 2010 to 2013, Ubach voiced various characters including Kugel and Strudel in the animated children’s TV series “Pound Puppies” – her performance in the series saw her nominated for a joint BTVA Television Voice Acting Award for Best Vocal Ensemble in a Television Series in 2014. In 2011, she voiced several characters in the Academy Award-nominated computer-animated Western film “Rango,” which starred the voices of Isla Fisher and Johnny Depp.
After lending her voice in the 2012 animated series “Kaijudo,” Ubach was cast as Amy Hobbs in the Nick at Nite TV sitcom, “See Dad Run” (2012-2015), which starred its executive producer, Scott Baio. Between 2015 to 2018, she starred as Jo Hernandez-Frumpkins, alongside Lisa Edelstein, Necar Zadegan, and Beau Garrett in the comedy-drama “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce” Ubach’s fame skyrocketed for voicing Mama Imelda in the Pixar Animation Studios’ Oscar Award-winning animated film “Coco.”
Ubach began voicing various characters in Harland Williams’ “Puppy Dog Pals” in 2017, and has since worked in 23 episodes of the computer-animated children’s series. Since 2019, the actress has been playing the role of Suze Howard in the teen drama “Euphoria.” After playing Yopi Candalaria in nine episodes of the Fox Broadcasting Company’s TV drama “Filthy Rich,” Ubach went on to voice various characters in the adult stop-motion animated TV sitcom “Crossing Swords” (2020-2021), and the Disney+ computer-animated series “Monsters at Work” (2021). Alanna wrote and directed the short film “A Mi Amor Mi Dulce” in 2003. In June 2008, she performed in solo the off-Broadway show “Patriotic Bitch” at the New York City-based Harold Clurman Theatre.

Ubach has lent her voice to several video game characters, in “Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots” (2007), and “Rango,” (2011) among others. She is also credited for her work in the 2013 video game “Grand Theft Auto IV.”

In 2018, she scooped four Behind the Voice Actors (BTVA) Awards in different categories including (joint) Best Vocal Ensemble in a Feature Film for her performance in “Coco.” She was nominated for an Alliance of Women Film Journalists for voicing Mamá Imelda in “Coco” in 2018. Moreover, she received a Young Artist Award nomination for her performance in “Beakman’s World.”

Ubach is a married woman; she exchanged vows with the accomplished American record producer and composer, Thom Russo, in 2014. Russo has won 12 Latin Grammy Awards and two American Grammy Awards for his significant contribution to the music industry. He’s also collaborated with many prominent figures in the music industry including Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Ubach bore Russo a son named Thomas Rodolfo Russo III on 25 July 2017. The family currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
