Early life, family, and education

Born Lorenzo Fernando Lamas under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on 20 January 1958, which makes him today aged 65. A native of Santa Monica, California USA, he holds American nationality and comes from a family of Argentinean and Norwegian descent. Raised in Pacific Palisades by his parents, Norwegian-American actress Arlene Dahl, and Argentine-American actor and director Fernando Alvaro Lamas, until they divorced when Lorenzo was 11 years old. His father then married movie star Esther Williams.

Being raised by successful actors, Lorenzo had longed to be in show business from an early age. His mother once said that he was just five years old when he told her that he wants to be an actor.

In 1971, Lorenzo moved with his mother to New York City, where he began practicing Taekwondo, Aikido, Shotokan Karate, and Ju-jitsu, earning black belts in each. When it comes to Lorenzo’s educational background, he attended Admiral Farragut Academy in New Jersey, (closed in 1994), from which he graduated in 1975.

Acting career- beginnings

Lorenzo made his acting debut in an uncredited role as an Indian Boy in the 1969 movie “100 Rifles”. He waited almost a decade to be cast as Sobranski in the 1977 series “Switch”, then in the following year, Lorenzo landed the role of Tom Chisum in the world-famous musical “Grease”, starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, which was nominated for the Oscar- Best Music, Original Song.

Lorenzo followed with his role as Nick Kilvitus in the 1979 movie “Take Down”, and later that year, he was seen as Rick in the TV mini-series “California Fever”, followed by his role as Burt Carroll in “Secret of Midland Heights” (1980-1981).

His breakthrough role came later in 1981 when Lorenzo was cast to play Lance Cumson, a handsome ladies’ man, in the romantic drama series “Falcon Crest”, which followed the story of the powerful Gioberti/Channing family, the owners of the Falcon Crest Winery, and feuds they had. The show, also starring Jane Wyman and Chao Li Chi, had 47 award nominations and eight wins, including one Primetime Emmy.

Lorenzo won the Golden Apple Award for Male Discovery of the Year in 1982, and then in the following year, he was nominated for the aforementioned Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television. In 1986, he was nominated for the Soap Opera Digest Awards- Outstanding Actress/Actor in a Comic Relief Role on a Prime Time Serial, and Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role on a Prime Time Serial. The series aired from 1981 through 1990, and Lorenzo was the only actor seen in all 228 episodes.

Notable movie roles

Since the list of Lorenzo’s movie roles is too long, we’ll highlight some of his most notable, such as his lead role as Chilly in the 1984 musical drama “Body Rock”. The late ‘80s saw him starring as Soldier Kelly in the action movie “Snake Eater” and its sequel “Snake Eater II: The Drug Buster”, both released in 1989.

He starred as Miles Keane in the 1991 action movie “Night of the Warrior”, in which he showed his martial arts skills. The early ‘90s saw Lorenzo mostly starring in action movies such as “The Swordsman” (1992), “Bad Blood” (1994), and “Midnight Man” (1995), among many others, which were mostly poorly rated by critics and the audience.

In the following years, Lorenzo co-starred in “Return to Vengeance” (2012), “Cathedral Canyon” (2013), “Being American” (2014), and “Real Blood: The True Beginning” (2015), among many others.

After his role in “Falcon Crest”, Lorenzo’s next notable TV series role came in 1992 when he was cast to play Reno Raines/Vince Black in the series “Renegade”. Between 1992 and 1997, he was seen in 110 episodes of this action crime-adventure about Reno, who escapes from prison after being accused of murdering his girlfriend by a crooked policeman. Now, Reno is a renegade who tries to prove his innocence.

From 1998 through 1999, Lorenzo was seen as Rio Arnett in the series “Air America” – the fun fact is that he holds a commercial pilot’s license in real life, and when he’s not acting, he’s piloting a tour helicopter with HeliNY.

He followed with his role as Rafe Cain in “The Immortal” (2000-2001) before being cast as Hector Ramirez in the hit series “The Bold and the Beautiful”.

Lorenzo made an appearance in 191 episodes, between 2004 and 2006, and his performance in the series brought him the Rose d’Or Light Entertainment Festival nomination for Best Soap Male in 2005, while two years later, he was nominated for the Imagen Foundation Award for Best Supporting Actor – Television.

In the following years, Lorenzo mostly guest starred in an episode or a few of numerous series, including “Big Time Rush” (2010), “Ghost Girls” (2013), “Workaholics” (2014), and “Lucha Underground” (2016).

Most recently, he was seen as Ethan Walker in less than ten episodes of the series “Sons of Thunder” in 2022.

His wife and children

Lorenzo, at the peak of his acting career, was a real Hollywood heartthrob, with his long, brown hair, very muscular physique, and deep smooth voice. He’s been the subject of various rumors about his love life, and this ladies’ man has been married five times.

His first wife was Victoria Hilbert, his co-star from “Falcon Crest” (she played Lance’s girlfriend). The two married in October 1981 and divorced on 16 May 1983.

Six days later, Lorenzo married Michelle Smith, also an actress. On 19 December 1983, Michelle gave birth to their first child, a son, named Alvaro Joshua ‘A. J.’ Lamas, who is also an actor. His sister, Shayne Lamas, was born on 6 November 1985, and she also followed in their parent’s footsteps. Michelle and Lorenzo divorced a month later after Shayne’s birth.

After his divorce from Michelle, Lorenzo was in a relationship with actress Daphne Ashbrook, with whom he has a daughter, Paton Lee Ashbrook, born on 6 September 1988. She is also an actress, perhaps known best for her role as Jenny Sullivan in the series “Power Book II: Ghost”.

Lorenzo’s third wife was Kathleen Kinmont, his co-star from the series “Renegade”. The two married on 25 January 1989 and divorced in 1993;tThey didn’t have children together.

On 27 April 1996, Lorenzo married his fourth wife, Shauna Sand, his co-star in the series “Air America”. Shauna gave birth to their first daughter, namely Alexandra, on 22 November 1997. Two years later, on 24 April, Shauna and Lorenzo welcomed their second daughter, Victoria, while the youngest, Isabella, was born on 2 February 2001, but the couple divorced in October 2002.

In 2011, after five months of dating, on 30 April, Lorenzo exchanged wedding vows with his fifth five, Shawna Craig, a Mexican-Irish actress, and model. This marriage lasted until June 2018, when Lorenzo filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalized on 8 February 2019.

Lorenzo began dating non-celebrity Kenna Scott in early 2020, and the two become engaged in February 2021 – at the time, Lorenzo was 63 years old, and his fiancée 36.
