Susan’s love for journalism became visible as soon as she enrolled at high school, and her mother has been her main source of motivation as she encouraged her to pursue her dreams. After matriculating from high school, Susan enrolled at the University of Toronto, again mostly thanks to her mother who was paying for her studies, and she graduated with a degree in economics. During her time there, Susan was learning languages and can today speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English all fluently.
Career of a reporter
Susan launched her career as soon as she matriculated– although she would go on to obtain her degree in economics, she will remain focused on journalism and become hired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation where she served as their associate producer and reporter for TV and radio.
From there, she moved to Beijing to work for the China Central Television International in 2003, and was part of their team until 2006 – she served as an anchor of the “World News” show, was their news editor, and also served as the main host of their “Biz China” program.
During this time, she had an opportunity to interview a couple of important and famous people, including Yao Ming, the popular basketball player, and Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela.
In 2006, Susan became part of Bloomberg Television, and served as the host of their “Asia Business Tonight” news show – in 2010, she became the host of another two shows, entitled “Morning Call” and “Bloomberg Edge”. She gained worldwide recognition after starting to host the “First Up with Susan Li” which covered all the important stories from around the world.
During this time, she also hosted a couple of other shows, including “Asia Stars” and “Asia Edge”. The job for the Bloomberg Television also gave Susan an opportunity to travel around the world and report from some of the biggest events, including attending the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing.
The year 2014 saw Susan move from Bloomberg Television to CNBC Asia – she was hired to serve as an anchor for their “Asia Squawk Box” TV show. The job required Susan to move to Hong Kong, where she stayed until the summer of 2015 – thanks to Susan, during the Asian Television Awards, the show won the best news program award in 2015.

Susan moved from Asia to Europe in September 2015 to work for CNBC Europe, and served as an anchor of their “Worldwide Exchange” TV program until the end of 2015. During this time she was moving around Europe, and her last appearance was from London, England. From CNBC Europe, she moved to CNBC US at the beginning of 2016, and started working as their correspondent and a presenter – she was part of the team until summer 2018 when she began working for the Fox Business Network as their correspondent, and is still holding the job.
Love life and husband
Susan is one of the most secretive women in the news industry, as she hasn’t shared any details regarding the men she might have dated throughout the years.
Whether it is because Susan has been completely focused on her career and doesn’t have time for men or because she prefers to keep her personal matters to herself, regardless she hasn’t talked about her love life at all. Rumor has it that the popular journalist was dating a man while she was working in China, and that the two have exchanged their wedding vows there, however, this hasn’t been confirmed and it appears as Susan is still single and unmarried.
Another rumor has it that Susan is currently living together with her boyfriend in the US, but as she hasn’t commented on this herself, nothing about it can be said with certainty.
Hobbies and other interests
Susan is a very popular and skilled journalist and as it goes with this job, a portion of her free time goes to keeping up with the news from all over the world, however, Susan still finds some time for things she enjoys doing for herself. She is very interested in sports and has been sort of a sportscaster for a short period of her career – her favorite sport is tennis, and her favorite tennis player is Novak Djokovic.
She is very passionate about travelling, and her job has made it possible for her to live in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa as well – she has (apparently) finally settled in the US, and is not planning on moving again anytime soon. Susan is a lover of animals, and although she has stated that she would like to have a pet dog, she currently doesn’t have time for it – she has recently uploaded a picture of herself with a baby penguin onto her Instagram account.
Appearance and net worth
Susan is currently 34 years old. She has long brown hair and brown eyes, while her height and weight are not known.
