Born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone on the 6th July 1946, in Manhattan, New York City USA, he is the son of Francesco “Frank” Stallone Sr. who was a hairdresser and beautician, and his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Stallone, who was a dancer, astrologer and also the promoter of women’s wrestling. He is of mixed ancestry, with Italian, Ukrainian-Jewish and French roots.
At his birth, there were complications which meant that the left side of his face was paralyzed, resulting in slurred speech and his well-known snarling look.
He went to Notre Dame Academy and Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, and later enrolled at Miami Dade College, before attending the University of Miami.
