Katty Kay was born in Wallingford, Berkshire, England, on 14 November 1964, so under the zodiac sign of Scorpio and holding British nationality – she is a journalist and a writer who rose to prominence after she started to work for the BBC network.

Early life and education

Katty spent her early years moving around the country, as her father worked as a diplomat for the UK, which is why her family moved a lot, and why she spent some time living in the Middle East. It appears that Katty doesn’t have any siblings, as she hasn’t talked about them.

Motivated by her father and the news that they would watch together on TV, Katty started dreaming about becoming a journalist, and reporting the news from all around the world. She dedicated her life to making this dream come true, and after she matriculated from a local high school in Blewbury, she enrolled at the St Hilda’s College, Oxford from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in modern languages in 1988.

Career as a journalist and other works

Although it was not what she wanted, Katty first began working for the Bank of England. After realizing this was not a job which suited her, she made a rather huge transition, and went to Zimbabwe to work for a non-governmental organization there.

Thanks to the persuasion of her friends who saw her passion and her skills, Katty applied for and won the job of a BBC correspondent in Zimbabwe in 1990, which marked the beginning of her career in journalism. She then moved back to London, and began working for BBC World Service radio – accepting her boss’s offer, she went to report from Tokyo in 1992, and four years later, moved to work in Washington D.C. She ventured into writing in 1997 when she became part of “The Times” British daily national newspaper, and stayed with them for a couple of years before becoming part of the US BBC team once again in 2002.

In June 2004, she became the co-host of the “BBC World News” program in London, which is when she became recognized worldwide as the show could have been watched all around the world. Three years later, she became a correspondent for the “BBC World News America”, which further increased her popularity in the field of journalism – she has been holding this job for around 12 years now, while she is often invited as a guest onto numerous other shows, including but not limited to “Morning Joe”, “Real Time with Bill Maher”, and “The Chris Matthews Show”.

Katty has also appeared in the “Mars” science fiction series which aired on the National Geographic channel.

Love life and relationship

Katty is a very secretive person who prefers to keep her personal matters separated from her professional life, and therefore not a lot is known about her marriage. Even though both of them wanted to focus on their careers, they still decided to have children, and now have four, however, they have chosen to keep them away from the media’s attention and nothing about them is known including their names and their dates of birth. Katty hasn’t spoken about any other men she might have been with before meeting Tom, and therefore nothing about her love life prior to meeting him is known.

Katty’s job for the BBC is taking a lot of her free time too, but she still finds gaps in her schedule for the things she enjoys doing for herself.
