He became interested in comedy at the age of six and started coming up with his own jokes when he was 10. He attended Monsignor Farrell High School from which he matriculated in 1994, and where he participated in several sports such as basketball, hockey, and football – he went on to enroll at John’s University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1998.

Career as a TV personality

Sal launched his career in 1998 when he began appearing in the “Superdude & Friend” funny video series, however, he only gained recognition after he appeared in a single episode of the “Impractical Jokers” hidden camera TV show in 2011, with three other comedians – Joe Gatto, James Murray, and Brian ‘Q’ Quinn.

Sal has appeared in several other TV shows , after becoming a regular cast member of “Impractical Jokers” after his first appearance. He then went on to create a comedy troupe with Joe and James called “The Tenderloins”, and they became famous all around the USA for their joking. They performed in several states such as Florida, California, New York, and Illinois among others – the team consisted of five people, while the fifth member Gideon Horowitz, left due to personal problems.

Fourth member, Mike Boccio, had personal issues as well, and was replaced by Brian Quinn – the team of four won the $100,000 award when they competed in and won the “It’s Your Show” NBC competition TV series in 2007, with their “Time Thugs” sketch. The comedy group has an eponymous YouTube channel which they launched on 13 July 2006, and it currently counts over 100,000 subscribers.

Sal began working with his comedy group on their side project called “What Say You”, a podcast which won them a nomination for the best new show at the 2013 Stichter Awards, and in 2015 won them the 10th Annual Podcast Award for Comedy, Entertainment, and Best Produced Podcast.

Sal is an author as well, and has so far published two books entitled “Impractical Jokers” and “Unit Impractical Jokers”.

Sal is a straight actor too, and appeared in the “Damned” film produced by James Murray, and also in the “Bones” TV series – in the “12 Monkeys” movie starring Bruce Willis, he played a security officer.

Love life and relationships. Gay?

Rumors began circulating the internet that the popular comedian might be gay, due to the fact that Sal never talks about the women he has dated, and saying during a live show that he was gay.

After people believed him, he stated that he came out gay only to support his friend James Murray, and that he is indeed a straight man. It is widely known that he has been with several women – some being actresses – so the idea of Sal being gay has since been ruled out. Sal is currently single, and it doesn’t appear as though he is seeing anyone.

Hobbies and other interests

Sal is a lover of tattoos and has several inked onto his skin – he lost a bet with his friends from “The Tenderloins” comedy group, and therefore had to tattoo Jaden Smith, an American rapper, onto his thighs.
