Before launching a YouTube channel, Rhett worked for some time at Black & Veatch, an engineering firm headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Nevertheless, tired of the everyday routine he decided to team up with his friend Link and try to make a YouTube channel a go. Their creative collaboration traces back to school when they worked together on the documentary “Looking For Ms. Locklear”, and when they were 14 Rhett and Link wrote the screenplay for the short film “Gutless Wonders”, but they never finished filming it.

However, it was in high school that they did create the 25-minute parody film about “Oedipus Rex”

Their first YouTube channel was created on the 17th September 2008, and their first video “The Bloody Door” has now attracted over 770,000 views. Good Mythical Morning has over 16 million subscribers, and has collected more than six billion views.

Some of their most popular videos include “Amazing Game Show Cheaters”, which has just under 30 million views, then “Eating a Scorpion: Bug War Challenge” and “World’s Hottest Pepper Challenge: Carolina Reaper”, both with more than 27 million views.
