Career and Rise to Stardom
Before launching a YouTube channel, Rhett worked for some time at Black & Veatch, an engineering firm headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Their creative collaboration traces back to school when they worked together on the documentary “Looking For Ms. Locklear”, and when they were 14 Rhett and Link wrote the screenplay for the short film “Gutless Wonders”, but they never finished filming it.
However, it was in high school that they did create the 25-minute parody film about “Oedipus Rex”
Their first YouTube channel was created on the 17th September 2008, and their first video “The Bloody Door” has now attracted over 770,000 views. The two continued making videos over the years, becoming premium content creators, which has made them extremely popular. Good Mythical Morning has over 16 million subscribers, and has collected more than six billion views.
Some of their most popular videos include “Amazing Game Show Cheaters”, which has just under 30 million views, then “Eating a Scorpion: Bug War Challenge” and “World’s Hottest Pepper Challenge: Carolina Reaper”, both with more than 27 million views.
Continual Success
With the success of their original YouTube channel, Rhett and Link started another one, and now they have four other channels with unique content, including “Good Mythical MORE”, “Mythical Kitchen”, Rhett & Link”, and “Ear Biscuits”, combining to more than 25 million subscribers, which has considerably increased their net worth.
Rhett and Link have also created the “Good Mythical Morning” show, in which they cover numerous interesting topics, sharing facts with their fans in their own amusing style. Rhett won several awards for the show, including Shorty and Webby Awards for best host and show. The two have also published the book “Rhett & Link’s Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery” in October 2017.
