Katie was raised in Indianapolis alongside her two siblings, by their father who was a salesman and their mother who is a housewife. She became interested in sports while attending high school, and excelled at swimming, becoming a competitive swimmer on a national level.
After matriculation, she enrolled at a university she didn’t really want to attend, and after a year switched to the University of Indiana, Bloomington graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sports communication and broadcasting in 2004.
