Professional Career
Stephen started his career as an understudy, working for Steve Carell. He then met Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello, and together they launched the Comedy Central’s comedy sketch series “Exit 57” (1995-1996). Thereafter, he worked as a writer for “The Dana Carvey Show” and then reunited with Sedaris and Dinello to work on “Strangers With Candy”, in which he portrayed Chuck Noblet. The trio published the satirical novel “Wigfield: The Can Do Town That Just May Not” in 2003.
He served as a correspondent on “The Daily Show”, which he left in 2005 since he got a chance to work on his own show, entitled “The Colbert Report”, was aired on the Comedy Central network between 2005 and 2014. Following the retirement of David Letterman, Stephen started hosting the CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”.
