Early life and education
Claudia was born in Moseley, Birmingham, UK. The younger of two children, she spent the first part of her childhood in London, England before her family returned to Birmingham when she was nine; Claudia was homeschooled until she was 17 years old. Raised in a narrowboat for most of her teenage years, Claudia’s unconventional upbringing is often a talking point in interviews, contributing to her unique perspective and approach to life.
Claudia’s parents divorced when she was a child, so she and her brother were raised solely by their mother who worked as a housekeeper.
Despite facing financial hardship during her early life, Claudia held a passion for performing arts. During her teenage years, she started learning ballet at the Challis School of Dance, which eventually led to her discovering her acting talent. Claudia then went on to study acting at the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School and later at the Birmingham Theatre Company, before signing with an agent in 2012.
Claudia made her film debut in 2012 in the short drama “Rosie”, which also starred Bradley Taylor. In the same year, she also joined the cast of the British soap opera “Doctors”, in which she played the role of the supporting character Poppy Conroy, appearing in total of 13 episodes, from 2012 through 2014. Parallel to her work on “Doctors”, Claudia also made appearances in other popular British series, such as “House of Anubis”, “The Paradise”, and “Casualty”.
From 2014 through 2016, Claudia starred in the children’s web series “Dixi”, which won the 2014 BAFTA award for best Original Interactive Show.
In 2016, she made her only feature film appearance, in the romantic comedy drama “Their First”, directed by Lone Scherfig, and which starred Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy. The movie is set during WWII and a former propaganda screenwriter, as she joins the cast of a new movie while war rages around them.
In the following years, Claudia made appearances in TV series such as “Father Brown” and “Carters Get Rich” both in 2017, and “Lovesick” in 2018.
In the thrilling crime drama series “Line of Duty” (2017), Claudia took on the recurring role of Detective Constable Jodie Taylor. As a young and ambitious officer, Jodie becomes entangled in the intense investigations of AC-12, a unit dedicated to exposing police corruption. Claudia’s portrayal of Jodie was lauded for her portrayal of a determined and morally conflicted character.
From 2017 through 2019, Claudia played one of the leads in the short-lived medical comedy drama “Porters”, which also starred Edward Easton and Susan Wokoma.
One of her most notable TV series roles was her performance as Amelia Sedley in an adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s classic novel “Vanity Fair” (2018). The series became a global phenomenon, quickly gaining a dedicated fan base and receiving critical acclaim for its lavish production values, compelling storytelling, and the talented performances of its cast.
Love life and relationships
Despite her rising fame and the public’s interest in her personal life, Claudia has always maintained a low profile when it comes to her relationships. She’s managed to strike a fine balance between her personal and professional life, maintaining her privacy while not shying away from sharing glimpses of her life with her fans.
In 2021, it was revealed that Claudia was in a relationship with a mysterious man named Joseph who works as a sound engineer. The two met in 2018, at a Birmingham pub, and have been together ever since. In an interview, she said that it was her mother who encouraged her to approach Joseph, acting as her ‘wingwoman’. Besides this, nothing is known about Joseph and Claudia’s relationship, as they both prefer to stay out of the media’s spotlight.
Hobbies and interesting facts
Claudia has a broad range of interests outside of her acting career. She’s an accomplished pianist, often showcasing her skills on her social media platforms.
