Joshua Colley

The actor and singer Joshua Colley was born on 20th January 2002, in the suburban city of New Port Richey in Florida, USA. He and his twin brother Cameron were raised by parents Brad and Robbie Lynn Colley in the sleepy Floridian community of Trinity, which has just 10,000 inhabitants.

Joshua’s lack of credited acting roles can be attributed to his young age, as he was unable to fully focus on his career due to his studies. From March 2013 to February 2014, he played Les in the popular musical “Newsies”; at the beginning of 2014, it was confirmed that he and Gaten Matarazzo would be playing Gavroche in the Broadway revival of “Les Misérables”.

When Joshua was praised by the Huffington Post for his performance as Gavroche, which lasted from March 2014 to March 2015, his career began gaining well-deserved traction. Around the same time, he voiced Pig Robinson in the animated Nick Jr. Channel series “Peter Rabbit”.

The Floridian’s first leading role was in the York Theater Company production “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. Broadway Records released the official cast album in November 2016, a few months after the last show. By this point, Joshua was being offered more and more work, and had to take a week off to perform in “The Little Mermaid” at the Hollywood Bowl; his co-stars were Rebel Wilson, John Stamos, and Tituss Burgess.

Between 2016 and 2021, we can assume that Joshua was finishing his studies and working on his YouTube channel, which has over 44,000 subscribers to date. His first singing video, which has been viewed over 60,000 times, was uploaded in 2016 and saw him perform a rousing cover of “If the World Only Knew”. Other songs covered by Joshua are “Hallelujah”, Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”, and “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas”; in 2019, he also performed a duet of “Seventeen” with singer Milly Shapiro.

Although Joshua’s YouTube channel has been inactive for the last few years, in 2021 he was cast for his first movie roles in the tongue-in-cheek comedy “Senior Year”, and Hulu’s “Sex Appeal”. He also appeared in two episodes of “Love, Victor”, playing one of the main character’s classmates.

In “Senior Year”, Rebel Wilson plays a 37-year-old woman who awakes from a decades-long coma and decides to relive her high school days and earn her diploma. Using social media and risqué cheerleading routines to regain her former popularity, Rebel’s character, Stephanie, begins spiraling out of control and begins alienating her peers.

When the movie premiered on Netflix, Joshua wrote a special thanks to Rebel and other castmates, adding: “…for making my dream come true and giving me a second family. Beyond grateful.” It was Joshua and Rebel’s second time working together, as their first meeting was during the live production of “The Little Mermaid”.

In an interview with Hollywood Life, the actor stated that he was “elated” to have worked with her again, describing the “Bridesmaids” star as a humble and welcoming person. A year after the movie’s premiere, the former Broadway performer is still on close terms with his co-stars Avantika and Michael Cimino, who regularly feature on his social media.

“Sex Appeal”, adapted from a Tate Hanyok screenplay, was Talia Osteen’s feature-film directorial debut. Joshua’s co-stars in the teen sex comedy film were Margaret Cho, Fortune Feimster and Paris Jackson; the plot centered around a nerdy teenage girl working on mastering her sexuality so she can take her relationship with her long-distance boyfriend to the next level at an upcoming science. technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) conference.

In October 2022, the singer was cast as Monty in “Dead Boy Detectives”, an upcoming series based on the DC Comics characters of the same name. Although no release date has been confirmed, the series, which was originally set to air on HBO Max, will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.

A month later, Joshua shared that he would be playing Captain Hook in “The Pocketwatch”, a Disney Plus movie and spin-off from “Peter Pan”.

Personal Life

Joshua has proven himself to be very popular on social media, with over 230,000 Instagram followers and counting, and it’s not hard to see why. The actor and singer posts sparingly – his last post at time of writing was in mid-March 2023 – but his fashionable selfies can rack up tens of thousands of ‘likes’ in a matter of hours.

If his Instagram feed is any clue, fashion and photography are two of Joshua’s main interests. Many of his photos are professionally taken, and the versatile performer is known for his impeccable grooming, and not being afraid to take risks when it comes to his image.

Joshua’s twin brother, Cameron, also describes himself as an artist and actor. However, his Instagram has been inactive since 2021, and there’s no evidence of him pursuing any theatre, movie or TV roles so far. As for the Colley patriarchs, they prefer to remain behind the scenes, and are presumably managing Joshua’s career, ensuring that he stays on the right path. Way back in February 2017, Joshua uploaded a selfie of his mother to wish her a happy birthday; however, she and her husband have yet to be seen at any industry events with their son.

As for Joshua’s sexuality and dating history, there have been rumors of the actor being gay due to his flamboyant nature and certain fashion choices. However, the former Broadway performer has yet to discuss his personal life in interviews; as such, we have no idea if he is dating anyone or what his sexual orientation is. It’s important to note that in June 2022, he participated in “Pride in the Kitchen”, a “Good Morning America” segment in which he discussed parenting queer and trans children with actor Jonathan Bennett and trans advocate Schuyler Bailar.

Although online sources erroneously claim that Joshua is worth between $2 and $5 million, a safer estimate of the “Sex Appeal” alum’s net worth lies in the $100,000 to $500,000 range, taking into account the six-year long hiatus in his career. However, with his upcoming projects, his net worth could easily hit six figures by 2024.
