Who is Eddie Kaye Thomas?
Born of Jewish origins under the sign of Scorpio on the 31st of October 1980, in Staten Island, New York USA, Eddie Kay Thomas is a 38 year-old Caucasian actor, most famously known for his role as Paul Finch in the comedy film series “American Pie”. Eddie is also recognized for playing the part of Andy Rosenberg in the “Herold and Kumar”, Jeff Woodcock in the Fox sitcom “Till Death” and Dr. Tobias in the CBS show “Scorpion”.
He’s had a large number of successful roles on TV and in theater since his first appearance on stage in 1992.
Early life and education: Who are his parents?
Thomas spent his childhood years growing up in New York City in the neighborhood of New Dorp. Even though he was born and raised in a Jewish family, he says he’s not religious. Nothing is known about his parents, except that he had their support in pursuing his acting career, taking to the stage at the young age of seven. He was always interested in and drawn to the idea of acting, and has since then been in the profession all his life.
For his education, Eddie matriculated in 1998 from New York’s Professional Children’s School for young actors, already having significant on-stage experience.. Apparently he never attended college.
Career: Taking on the stage before television
Starting his career as a stage actor, Thomas debuted in “Four Baboons Adoring the Sun” in 1992.
A few years later, in 1997, he starred in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” alongside world-famous actress Natalie Portman. While already being a veteran of the Broadway stage, in 1994 he made his television debut in an episode of the once popular series, “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” After landing a few more roles in movies and TV series, he eventually realized his so far most recognized appearance as Paul Finch in the very famous “American Pie” in 1999, and its sequels.
He worked alongside noted actors such as Robert Downey Jr. and Jared Leto, as the character Marty King in the controversial movie “Black and White” by James Toback. His supportive roles as Rosenberg – the stereotypical Jewish character in “Herold and Kumar Go to White Castle” in 2004, and “Herold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” in 2008 – only made it more obvious that he belonged in an acting career.
In between those two films, he also returned to the theater off Broadway, in 2006.
Jack of all trades
Although he took on many roles in theater, movies and TV series alike, he also took part in commercials for various companies such as Snickers, Nike and Blockbuster Video, and made an appearance in 311’s music video for “Flowing”. Eddie dabbled in voice acting too, as the character Berry Robinson in the animated TV series “American Dad!” from 2005, and in which he is still starring after 18 seasons.
His more famous role was that of Toby Curtis or Dr. Tobias, in the CBS series “Scorpion”, from 2014 until the series’ cancellation in 2018. He now has over 50 credits as an actor.
Most recently, he appeared in “The Prodigal Son” in 2021, and as Adam in eight episodes of “The Marvellous Mrs Maisel” in 2023.
Love life: Does he have a wife?
Eddie retains most private information, but he was involved in a romantic relationship with American actress Ari Graynor, known for her role in the TV series “The Sopranos and Fringe”, for several years from 2008. There are no public clues of any existing love interests or relationships – speculations about his sexuality are just that.
Thomas reunited with the cast
After twenty years since the incredibly famous teen comedy “American Pie” was released in 1999, the memorable cast recently reunited for the ET Online interview. Thomas started reminiscing about their fame at the time, jokingly comparing their celebrity status. He said ‘Actually, the three ladies on the couch were already established and well known. And then we were the schlemiel of the group. And then we went to an MTV thing, like, a year later and we actually had people to talk to. And now we don’t even get invited anymore.’
Net Worth and Awards
In 2000, Thomas shared the Young Hollywood Award for “American Pie” with his co-stars Thomas Ian Nicholas, Jason Biggs, and Alyson Hannigan.
