Whit Johnson was born in San Francisco, California USA, on 28 June 1982, so his birth sign is Cancer and he holds American nationality. Whit is a journalist, best known for serving as a co-anchor of the weekend edition of the “Good Morning America” program which airs on ABC.
Early life and education
Whit spent most of his childhood in San Francisco, but as his family often moved due to their jobs, Whit lived in several countries during his formative years. He has a sister who could have been seen with him in “Good Morning America”, and Whit is currently trying to persuade her to move to New York City to be close to him and his family.
He became interested in journalism after he began watching news with his parents, and then took a journalism course while attending high school. He was also very sporting while there, as he competed at football and baseball, and occasionally played lacrosse. After matriculation, he enrolled at San Francisco State University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Television and Radio Broadcasting in 2004.

Career as a journalist
Whit launched his career in the field of journalism in 2005, when he started working for KSL-TV (NBC affiliate) in Salt Lake City, Utah, as their reporter and a weekend anchor.
He had his first on-air experience when he moved to work for KNDO / KNDU, the NBC-affiliated duopoly Yakima/Tri-Cities, Washington State, as a reporter and a weekend anchor. Whit gained recognition after he started working for the CBS News network in 2009, as their news correspondent and a fill-in anchor. He was praised for the many stories he covered, mostly for his reporting on the White House, Capitol Hill and foreign policy issues.
He was part of the CBS News team until 2012, when he joined the KNBC network as their general assignment reporter, and that year covered Mitt Romney’s presidential run in Boston, the mass shooting which occurred at the Washington D.C. Navy Yard, and reported on the Asiana flight 214 which crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport. He travelled to Sochi in 2014 to cover the Winter Olympics, and in June that year began co-anchoring the “Today in L.A.” local morning news and entertainment TV program, alongside Daniella Guzman.
Whit announced on social media and on-air that he was leaving KNBC on 13 December 2017. In March 2018, Whit started co-anchoring the “Good Morning America” ABC program, and often appeared in the “ABC World News Tonight” daily evening TV news program. He announced on 29 September 2018 that he was to become the co-anchor of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America”, and made his first on-air appearance on 30 September 2018, positions that he still holds.

Whit started dating Andrea Fujii while they were both studying at San Francisco University, after they met during their second year. They were advised by their friends not to continue with their relationship after graduation, as both of them wanted to chase their TV careers, but continued dating anyway, and married on 11 August 2007. They are parents to two daughters: Leah was born on 15 May 2012, while Summer followed on 26 July 2014.
Whit and his wife are very close even after 12 years of marriage, and on their tenth anniversary in 2017, Whit uploaded a picture from their wedding and shared the caption which reads that his wife is his ‘best friend, trusted advisor, the most incredible mother of two, and the love of his life’.
He also stated how he is looking forward to what their second decade might bring them. The family of four is currently residing in their modest home in New York City.
Hobbies and other interests
Whit enjoys spending his free time with his wife and their children – they like to dress up for Halloween and other costume parties. They are all keen on travelling, and enjoy watching Disney’s animated movies such as “Inside Out” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet”. The family of four has recently visited Disneyland, and uploaded pictures of their trip onto their social media accounts. Their most recent trip was to New Jersey which is also captured on their accounts on social media networks.
Whit enjoys playing sports, and was physically very active at both high school and university, while his favorite was swimming. He also played football, soccer, and baseball and although he doesn’t play any sports today, he goes to the gym several times per week. He likes watching movies and TV series, with his favorite actor and actress being Jim Carrey and Natalie Portman, while his favorite movies are “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” and “Rango”. He’s also a big lover of animals, and has had three pet dogs over the course of years.

Witt is our favorite newscaster in our home. Just the best and his voice is terrific and you hear clearly everything he says. he should be the only one replacing David on World News, another of our favs. His friendship with Rob Marciano always brings a warm smile. We’re not young anymore so enjoy these youngsters.
Whit is great! It would be great to have him on everyday and replace Strahan. Move Strahan to the weekends. Whit has a much better personality.

HIS TERRIFIC AND THE BEST WHEN HE SUBS FOR DAVID ON WORLD NEWS AND CERTAINLY HAVE ENJOYED HIM SUBBING FOR GEORGE ON GMA. ALWAYS THE SATURDAY SHOWS ARE A FAVORITE IN MY HOUSEHOLD.
