Who is Amy Robach?
Amy Joanne Robach was born in St. Joseph, Michigan USA, on 6 February 1973 – her zodiac sign is Aquarius, and she holds American nationality. She’s a reporter who’s probably known best for the work which she’s done for ABC News, which is the news division of the Walt Disney Television’s broadcast network ABC.
Early life and education
Amy was raised in East Lansing, Michigan by her parents, about whom only little is known because she respects their privacy; it’s believed that her father was a sports journalist, and that her mother was a nurse. Because Amy hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most of her fans believe her to be an only child.
Amy’s family moved to St. Louis, Missouri when she was around nine years old, then to Snellville, Georgia a couple of years later. She grew up being interested in a number of activities, but was mostly into playing sports and practicing creative writing. Amy studied at Brookwood High School, and upon matriculating in 1991, enrolled at the University of Georgia, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1995.
Also in 1995, she entered the Miss Georgia pageant, finishing fifth.
Amy’s career
Upon graduation, Amy started working at the NBC/CW-affiliated TV station WCBD-TV, where she stayed for the following four years, quitting in 1999 after having been offered a move to Washington, D. C. and work at the TV station WTTG, owned and operated by Fox.
Amy covered various stories, then after four years with them was offered a position at the American news-based pay TV cable channel MSNBC. She stayed at MSNBC from 2003 to 2007, and it was during these four years that she gained recognition, as Amy could’ve been seen anchoring and co-hosting shows “Morning Joe” and “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”.
Between July 2007 and 19 May 2012, Amy co-anchored the show “Weekend Today”, which aired on NBC, and she then revealed that she was moving to ABC News. She became the anchor of “Good Morning America” in March 2014, and in 2018 the anchor of the TV show “20/20”.
Most recently, in March 2020, she was chosen to host the daytime program “Pandemic: What You Need To Know”, which aired on NBC.
Amy’s comments on the Jeffrey Epstein story
A video featuring Amy discussing ABC not accepting her story about the American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was released by Project Veritas on 2 November 2019. It was shot in August that year, and shows Amy interviewing Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a woman who claimed that she was sexually trafficked by Jeffrey to many people, even to Prince Andrew, Duke of York.
In the video, Amy could’ve been heard talking about how she had had the story for three years, but that ABC wouldn’t air it because of supposed lack of evidence; she explained that she was annoyed because she had the story before so many women had accused Jeffrey of sexual harassment, but that ABC wouldn’t air it because of their standards.
Both Amy and ABC released statements after the video was leaked, with ABC stating that they had been investigating the Jeffrey story starting from 2015, and that their documentary movie and podcast series about the case were to be released.
Amy’s highly active on Instagram, mostly because it’s important for her career to be there for her viewers; she’s today followed by more than 500,000 people, and has uploaded over 2,500 pictures onto the network, most of which feature her during her everyday life.
Amy launched her Twitter account in April 2011, and it’s today followed by close to 200,000 people, while she has tweeted nearly 3,000 times; Amy mostly writes to share important news with her fans, but also to express her opinion on various matters.
She has a Facebook page, as well, and it’s today followed by close to 200,000 people, while her most recent update was on 10 January 2021.
Amy doesn’t have her own TikTok Account, but various videos featuring her have been uploaded by other users, and these have been watched close to a million times.
Love life and husband Andrew Shue
Amy has married twice. She married her first husband Tim McIntosh in 1996, in a private ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members; Tim’s a non-celebrity American man, and is not to be mistaken for the American former baseball player with the same name.
Amy gave birth to their daughter Ava in 2002, while their second daughter Analise followed in 2006, but Amy and Tim divorced in 2008.
She married her second husband Andrew Shue on 6 February 2010, in a private ceremony held at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers; Andrew is a famous American actor, who’s probably known best for his portrayal of Billy Campbell in the popular soap opera “Melrose Place”. He had also been married once prior to meeting Amy, to Jennifer Hageney from 1994 to 2008, and they have three sons together.
