Kate Connelly and Bobby Flay met each other back in January 1994, when he appeared as a guest in an episode of the Food Network’s cooking show “Robin Leach Talking Food”, and soon started dating. After only a few months, Bobby proposed to her, while the couple eventually tied the knot at a private wedding ceremony held on 1 October 1995. He adopted her son, named Jonathan, from her previous relationship. They also have a child together, since Kate gave birth to their daughter, named Sophie Flay, in April 1996.
Unfortunately, the couple went their separate ways in 1998, and the divorce was soon finalized, for reasons which still remain a mystery. Following the divorce, Kate withdrew from public life, and is believed to have remained single. On the other hand, Bobby married actress Stephanie March in 2005, however, they divorced in 2015. Kate’s ex-husband, Robert William ‘Bobby’ Flay, was born on 10 December 1964 under the sign of Sagittarius, in Manhattan, New York City USA, where he was raised by his parents, Dorothy and Bill Flay.
Right after dropping out of high school at the age of 17, Bobby became involved in the hospitality industry. He initially worked as a salad maker at the restaurant owned by Joe Allen, who soon spotted Bobby’s talent and paid his tuition at the French Culinary Institute, from where he graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts in 1984.
Professional Career as an Executive Chef
Bobby Fray then started his professional culinary career, when he began working as a sous-chef at the restaurant “Brighton Grill”. Only a week later, he was promoted to the position of an executive chef, however, he quit and started working as a chef under Jonathan Waxman at “Bud and Jams”.
Between 1988 and 1990, Bobby served as the Executive Chef at “Miracle Grill”, after which he moved to “Mesa Grill” in 1991, where in no time, he became a partner as well.
In 1993, Bobby launched his own “Bolo Bar & Restaurant”. Moreover, he opened the second “Mesa Grill” in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004, which earned him the Michelin Star in 2008.
