A model turn-out actor, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara is perhaps known best to the public as the son of the famous “Modern Family” actress, Sofia Vergara. However, Manolo seems to have managed to use his popularity as a celebrity child as well as his good looks and acting talent to leave a mark in the entertainment industry.
Born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on 16 September 1991, Manolo is today aged 31 (as of July 2023). A native of Barranquilla, Columbia, he holds both Columbian and American citizenship, since most of his childhood days he spent with his mother in the United States after she emigrated from Columbia.
In one of her interviews, Sofia revealed that she emigrated in 1998, after her elder brother, Rafael was murdered during an attempt to kidnap him. They were high-school sweethearts, and married in 1990 when Sofia was 18 years old, but the couple divorced in 1993. At the time, Sofia had already launched her modeling career in Columbia, and by the age of 23, she was a catwalk model. Between 1995 and 1998, she co-hosted a travel show, “Fuera de Series”, becoming a favorite Colombian TV personality.
She struggled after immigrating to the USA, but in 2002, Sofia made her acting debut as Nina in the movie “Big Trouble”. Her breakthrough role came in 2009, when she was cast to play Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the hit comedy series “Modern Family”, appearing in all 250 episodes of the series which aired until 2020 – it had 384 award nominations and 122 wins, including 22 Primetime Emmys.
For her performance in the series, Sofia received numerous nominations and awards, including the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedy TV Star. On 7 May 2015, she was rewarded with her Star on the Walk of Fame, at 7013 Hollywood Boulevard.
When it comes to her personal life, since 21 November 2015, Sofia has been married to Joe Manganiello, a famed “True Blood” actor.

Manolo made his acting debut as Henry in the 2013 movie “White Rabbit”, starring Nick Krause, Sam Trammell and Todd McLaren, which won Catalina Film Festival Award for Best Feature Film. He followed with his role as DJ in the 2015 action comedy, “Hot Pursuit”, starring his mother, Sofia Vergara, and Reese Witherspoon, which followed the story of Rose, an uptight policewoman who tries to protect Danielle, the widow of a drug boss, as they race through Texas pursued by gunmen and crooked cops.
Manolo made his first television series appearance as Alberto in the 2016 TV mini-series “#ThisIsCollege”, followed by his first lead role as Simon in the series “Guilty Party”, appearing in all 17 episodes of this mystery drama in 2017 and 2018, about a girl named Emma who becomes unstoppable at geting her revenge after someone takes her diary and reveals her secrets to the entire school. Manolo starred opposite Tiffany Alvord and Teala Dunn, and although the show had no nominations, it was well-rated by the audience (7.6/10).
Concurrently, Manolo was cast to play Max Elliot in the 2018 family adventure “Destined to Ride”, while most recently, he was seen as Jorgie Lobo in the 2019 thriller “Vandal”, which was nominated for the Hollywood Critics Association Television Award for Best Broadcast Network or Cable Live-Action TV Movie.
Manolo will be seen starring as Viktor Varnay in the announced comedy thriller “The Big Feed”, which is currently in development; this will be his first major movie role.

When it comes to his upcoming projects, with his mother Sofia, he’ll co-produce the announced show, “Celebrity Family Cook Off”, which will feature a food-loving celebrity and his family member competing against another celebrity family duo in a two-round battle. They’ll have to make dinner and a dessert, and the judges of the show, Fariyal Abdullahi and Kalen Allen, will decide who the winner is. The winning celeb-family duo will receive a cash prize to donate to a charity of their choice.
Love life and relationships
Manolo prefers to keep his romantic life under wraps, but this doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been the subject of various rumors about his dating history. One of the people he’s been romantically linked with is Sofia Carson, a young actress and famous Disney star, who starred as Evie in “Descendants”.
The two were often seen together, and when the rumors about them began, they neither denied nor confirmed these assumptions. Many assumed that they are a couple after a few Instagram posts they both shared, however, to date they haven’t commented about their relationship.
As of July 2023, it seems that Manolo is single, he hasn’t been married or engaged and doesn’t have children.
