Sam’s career as a social media celebrity began on the video application Vine. He teamed up with his schoolmate and best friend – Colby Brock – to post videos on Vine. Their content mostly included prank videos, with them causing trouble in public places – their most viewed videos include “Following Fat People” and the “Public Disturbance” series. Before the app shut down in 2016, the duo had gained more than 1.6 million followers. In an interview with tubefilter, Colby said, ‘Made a Vine called “Following Fat People” which cause a lot of controversy resulting in us gaining a stupid amount of followers in a small amount of time. Took the leverage that we got from the new eyes to our channel, and were able to grow from there’.

In November of 2014, they shifted this fame to YouTube under a self titled channel, and uploaded their first video entitled ‘Sam and Colby Broke Up.. | What Next?’. They continued to post prank video and personal vlogs as well as comedy skits, continuing weekly for their ever-growing fan base. In 2016, they were arrested by police for trespassing into a school that was under construction; after their release, they designed shirts printed with their mugshots.
