Josh attended high school in his hometown, and after matriculation worked several jobs such as being a waiter and pool cleaner, while simultaneously pursuing a career in acting. He eventually enrolled at Auburn University in Alabama, from which he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1995.

Josh made his debut film appearance playing Marty in “Parallel Sons” in 1996, and then in the “Paulie” short film in the same year. 1997 saw him appear in another short film – “Stick Up” – and portray Flea in “G.I. Jane” in the same year.

He appeared in three films in 2000 – “Love & Sex”, “Auto Motives”, and “The Perfect Storm”, in which he portrayed Captain Darryl Ennis and was praised for his performance. He went on to play Chuck in “One Eyed King” in 2001, and in 2002 played an actor and a cop in the “Chicken Party” short movie. In 2007, he had a support role of Chet in “The Insatiable”, and in 2008 portrayed George in “Pretty Ugly People”.

Josh became keen on appearing in short films, and won roles in two of these in 2008 – “The Spirit of ’76: The Making of Swingtown” and “Have a Nice Revolution: Sex & Morality in 1970’s America”.
