Rachael is an American actress and comedian, probably best known for her roles in television shows such as “Suits” in which she played Sheila Sazs, and as Dr. Linda Martin in “Lucifer”, in addition to many other projects on which she has worked in her career.

Rachael Elaine Harris was born on 12 January 1968, in Worthington, Ohio USA, the daughter of Elyse Knox and Mickey Hargitay. She grew up in Worthington and went to Worthington High School. After matriculation, she enrolled at Otterbein College, from which she matriculated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre.

Career Beginnings

Rachael Harris began her acting career in 1992 with a role as the Treehouse Mom in the VHS Video “Treehouse Trolls”. She then appeared in a guest role as Rose in the TV series “SeaQuest DSV” in 1993. In 1996, she played the role of Fornaio Waitress #2 in “The Disappearance of Kevin Johnson”. She appeared in the episode entitled “Before and After”. of “Star Trek: Voyager” in 1997, portraying Martis – these early roles allowed her to work alongside a variety of actors in the industry.

Rachael Harris had her first recurring role in the TV series “Sister, Sister” in 1998, portraying Simone in five episodes, during which she had the opportunity to work alongside the main cast members, who included Tia and Tamera Mowry, Jackée Harry, Tim Reid and Marques Houston, among others.

Rachael continued to take on a variety of roles, both big and small, in various projects. In the film “Best in Show” (2000), she played the role of Winky’s Party Guest, a minor role among the cast. In “Showtime” (2002), she portrayed a Teacher, sharing the screen with actors such as Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy. In “Stuart Little 2” also in 2002, she provided additional voices for the animated film.

In the mockumentary “A Mighty Wind” Harris played Steinbloom’s Assistant, working alongside the talented ensemble that included Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara. In “Daddy Day Care”, she portrayed Co-Worker Elaine, sharing scenes with Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin. In the comedy horror film “The Haunted Mansion”, she appeared as Mrs. Coleman alongside Eddie Murphy and Marsha Thomason, all in 2003.

In 2004, Harris played Mrs. Feldman’s Friend in “Starsky & Hutch”, a buddy cop film starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, and in “After the Sunset” she portrayed June, sharing the screen with Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek. In “Kicking & Screaming” (2005), she played Ann Hogan, appearing alongside Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall.

In 2006, Harris had the opportunity to work with director Christopher Guest again in “For Your Consideration”, playing the role of Debbie Gilchrist, a minor part among the cast. In “Matters of Life and Dating” she portrayed Carla, sharing scenes with actresses Ricki Lake and Holly Robinson Peete, and in the romantic comedy “License to Wed” she played Janine, appearing alongside Robin Williams, Mandy Moore, and John Krasinski both in 2007.

Harris had a small but memorable role as an Ark Reporter in “Evan Almighty” (2007), starring Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman. In 2009, she gained significant recognition for her role as Melissa in the comedy film “The Hangover”, sharing the screen with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, and later that year in “The Soloist”, she portrayed Leslie Bloom, appearing alongside Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.

Rise to Prominence

In 2010, Rachael starred in the film “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” as Susan Heffley, the mother of the main character. She shared the screen with Zachary Gordon, who played her son Greg Heffley, as well as Steve Zahn and Devon Bostick, among others. The film follows Greg’s misadventures, and struggle to survive middle school.

In the independent film “Natural Selection” (2011), Harris portrayed Linda. The film tells the story of a barren and devout Christian housewife Linda, who embarks on a journey to find her husband’s illegitimate son. In her pursuit, she encounters a young man named Raymond (played by Matt O’Leary), who becomes her unlikely companion. The film received critical acclaim, and Harris’s performance as Linda earned her a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead.

Returning to the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” franchise, Harris once again played Susan Heffley in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” (2012), sharing the screen with the familiar cast, including Zachary Gordon and Steve Zahn. The film centers around Greg Heffley’s summer adventures and the humorous situations he finds himself in while trying to make the most of his vacation.

From 2012 to 2019, Rachael Harris portrayed Sheila Sazs in the TV series “Suits”, appearing in a total of 27 episodes, starting as a guest in seasons 2 to 5, and then as a recurring character in seasons 7 to 9. The same year she appeared in the horror-comedy film “Freaks of Nature”, alongside Nicholas Braun, Denis Leary and Mackenzie Davis. Harris played the role of Mrs Mosely, in the film set in a town where humans, vampires and zombies coexist, and chaos ensues when an alien invasion occurs.

In the comedy film “Brother Nature” (2016), Harris portrayed Aunt Pam. The movie follows a man’s chaotic and humorous family vacation, as he tries to impress his girlfriend’s eccentric family. Harris worked alongside Taran Killam, Gillian Jacobs, and Bobby Moynihan.

Continued Success

From 2016 to 2021, Rachael Harris played Dr. Linda Martin in the TV series “Lucifer”, a part of the main cast throughout the show’s run, which follows the story of Lucifer Morningstar, played by Tom Ellis, who leaves his position as the Devil and becomes a consultant for the LAPD, working alongside Detective Chloe Decker, played by Lauren German.

In the 2019 independent comedy film “International Falls”, Harris played Dee in the movie revolving around the friendship that develops between a struggling comedian and a married woman who is stuck in a small town. Harris’s performance demonstrated her comedic talents, alongside Rob Huebel and Mindy Sterling.
