Who is Eugene Simon?

Eugene Simon is an English actor who achieved popularity with the part of Lancel Lannister in the critically acclaimed HBO fantasy drama TV series “Game of Thrones” (2011-2016). He is also known to the world as Jerome Clarke in the TV fantasy drama series “House of Anubis” (2011-2013), among other projects on which he has worked so far in his career since 2003.

Born Eugene Michael Simon on the 11th June 1992, in London, England, he is the son of Anton and his wife Teresa Simon.

He has an older brother, Charles Stephen, and a younger sister Fleur. He went to Downside School and later Bryanston School.

Career Beginnings

Eugene’s career started when he was just eight years old; he joined the Abacus agency and started appearing in theater shows, such as “Exiles” in which he played Archie. In 2003 he made his on-screen debut as Harry in the TV comedy series “My Dads the Prime Minister” (2003), while in 2004 he was Eddie in the fantasy series “Noah & Saskia”.

The following year, he portrayed Casanova at 11 years of age in the adventure drama of the same name, starring Heath Ledger, Sienna Miller and Jeremy Irons. Eugene continued his career by portraying younger versions of lead characters, such as Young Felix Methuselah in the film “Alpha Male” in 2006, and later Young Ben Hur in the TV mini-series “Ben Hur”.

Rise to Stardom

2011 was a very profitable year for the young actor; at first, he was chosen for the part of Jerome Clarke in the TV fantasy drama series “House of Anubis”, eventually starring in all 146 episodes next to Alex Sawyer, which made him a national star.

The same year, he was selected for the part of Lancel Lannister in the highly popular TV fantasy action-drama series “Game of Thrones”, and featured in 16 episodes of the acclaimed series, which only increased his wealth and popularity. Eugene at first auditioned for the part of Joffrey Baratheon in the series, but the casting producers decided he is better suited for the part of Lancel Lannister. For this role he had to learn sword fighting and horse-riding as well, and once he was chosen Eugene started taking highly needed lessons.

In 2013, Eugene played the poet Eugene Devlin in his 20s in the film “Before I Sleep”, while the older version of the character was portrayed by David Warner.

After his stint in “Game of Thrones”, Eugene continued with TV roles, including portraying Eduard Einstein in the TV series “Genius” (2017), and a minor role in the TV series “Mothership”. He was Sean in the horror-drama film “The Lodgers”, starring alongside Charlotte Vega and Bill Milner.

Continual Success

In 2018 he was Ben Lyk in the comedy horror film “Kill Ben Lyk”, for which he received several award nominations, including the Nightmare Film Festival Award in the category for Best Actor Feature, but the actual award eluded him. Since then, he’s only appeared in the short film “Mens Sana” in 2018, but is working on two projects, including the film “Sensation”, in which he will star next to Emily Wyatt, and Bethan Wright, currently in post-production and awaiting its release date.

Most recently, Eugene started making progress in theater, and in 2018 made his debut in the play “For King and Country”, in which he was Padre, while in 2019 he played George in “A Room With a View”, both contributed to his wealth.

In addition to acting, Eugene has tried himself as a model, and is signed to Models 1 agency, based in England, and has done some modeling work in recent years.
