Charlize is of African-American, French, Irish, Indian, Bulgarian, and Portuguese descent, the daughter of a competitive gymnast turned bodybuilder, though her parents separated when she was young, so she was predominantly raised by her mother. At a young age, she showed a strong interest towards dancing and was encouraged to pursue her craft. Growing up, she maintained a close connection to her father, though cites her mother as an inspiration.

During the same year, she met other dancers at a convention in Los Angeles, mainly former members of a group called the Flavahs Crew. This led to her joining a new native group mixing the former Hawaiian group with Californian dancers so that they could compete at the “World of Dance” competition held in Hawaii. World of Dance is the largest dance entertainment enterprise, holding competitions in over 25 countries including the NBC “World of Dance” television show.

The group competed under the name Flavahs and Friends, managing to reach third place in the competition. Several of their members also won the competition under a different name, and the group then rebranded, becoming 8 Flavahz. Before Glass was a part of the group, they had auditioned during the sixth season of “America’s Best Dance Crew” but was unsuccessful. The following year, they returned with new members and fared much better, succeeding in the auditions which lead to them becoming a part of the competition.

America’s Best Dance Crew” is a dance reality series featuring national and international dance crews. It was produced by Randy Jackson and hosted by actor Mario Lopez. The show featured judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama, and Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, with dance crews competing each week to be crowned the champion of the season. They reached a first runner-up position in what would be the last iteration of the show on MTV, before a 2015 revival.
