Born Robert Hepler Lowe on the 17th March 1964 in Charlottesville, Virginia USA, he is the son of Chuck Lowe, a trial lawyer and a teacher, and his wife Barbara. He has a younger brother Chad, and as his parents divorced when both were still children, he and Chad went to the Point Dume area of Malibu to live. He attended Santa Monica High School, where he met future actor Charlie Sheen, and the two became great friends.

Rob’s career started in the late ‘70s, with the role of Tony Flanagan in the TV series “A New Kind of Family”. In 1983 he made his film debut with the part of Sodapop Curtis in the film “The Outsiders”, and the same year also featured in the romantic comedy-drama film “Class”. In 1988, a leaked videotape showcased Rob Lowe and a then 16-year-old girl whom he met in a nightclub. At the time, the age of consent was set to 14 years old, and though there was no criminal activity, Rob’s career took a plunge after the supposed scandal. Nevertheless, he has since resurfaced as a popular actor.
Back in 2008, three nannies were the subject of the criminal lawsuit filed by Rob, who claimed that they were sharing false information about the couple, and that all three lied about Rob sexually harassing them.
