Who is David Rooklin?
David Rooklin was born in 1980 in the United States of America – specific date and place unknown – and is a scientist, but better known for being the husband of comedian Ilana Glazer. His wife is partly popular for her work in the television series “Broad City”, portraying one of the lead characters. She’s been nominated several times thanks to her performance in the show.
The Net Worth of David Rooklin
David’s net worth is estimated to be over $2 million, earned through success in business and science. He owns his own company, and probably also benefits from the success of his wife, as Glazer has a reputed net worth of over $3 million.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
After matriculating from high school, David enrolled at Oberlin College in 1998, taking up a degree in Biochemistry. The college is somewhat dubiously reputed to be the second oldest institute of higher learning in the world, in continuous operation.
It is the home to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, which is the oldest in the US, though David focused more on a science course. The school is also known for founding progressive student activism, and was one of the first colleges to admit women as well as African Americans.
After completing his degree in 2002, he took up a job as a teaching assistant and a research technician, while continuing his studies at the Merck Pharmaceutical Company as a research intern, in the Cardiovascular Disease Department.
Merck is one of the largest pharmaceuticals in the world, and has been operational since 1891, including being responsible for the creation of many medical reference books. It is listed in the Fortune 500, with its high annual revenue.
Further Studies and Other Endeavors
In 2006, Rooklin enrolled at New York University, where he took up a Ph.D. in Computational Biology. The university is also an historically rich one, with its history dating back to 1831, with many celebrities, heads of state, media figures, businessmen and scientists have graduated from NYU.
He completed his Ph.D. in six years, and then worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist with a focus on Drug Design and Software Development. At the time he already had experience in identifying drug targets, when it comes to treating diseases such as hypertension and atherosclerosis.
After working as a research scientist for four years, he started his own company in 2017, becoming the co-founder of Redesign Science.
His focus is on silico drug discovery, meaning that a lot of the research and tests he does is via computer simulation. This type of research has been used since the late 1980s, often in biological experiments, usually to test scenarios involving living organisms or nature.
Wife – Ilana Glazer
Ilana is of Jewish descent – her father worked in the financial industry. She attended Smithtown High School., and after matriculating enrolled at New York University, where she completed a degree in psychology.
While in college, she developed an interest in performing and comedy, joining the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She/they performed around New York, and did stand-up as well as improvisational shows. In 2009, she started a web series entitled “Broad City”, in which she starred alongside Abbi Jacobson, playing fictionalized versions of themselves. The project was responsible for elevating her to fame, gaining attention from major publications such as “The Wall Street Journal” and “Entertainment Weekly”.

It attracted the attention of Amy Poehler, who started working with them to help create a television series of the same name. They failed to sell the pilot the first time around, and in its stead she started working alongside Alex Charak on another web show, entitled “Chronic Gamer Girl”. In 2014, she finally made a breakthrough with “Broad City”, as it aired on Comedy Central and became one of its biggest hits, attracting critical acclaim and strong ratings. The show ran for five seasons through 2019.
Personal Life
David married Ilana in 2017 after several years together, in a private ceremony attended by friends and family. The two met while at Washington Square Park – their eyes met and the two started a conversation, leading to romance. She thinks of him as her opposite, as he is into science and doesn’t really know a lot of comedy, but they connect very well.
Despite their differences, the two are very open when it comes to political opinions or activism. He is a feminist and is not afraid to speak about it openly. They are also highly critical about the current state of the US government, as of 2019.
