Amy Pietz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA on 6 March 1969 under the zodiac sign of Pisces, and so holds American nationality. Amy is an actress, best known for appearing in TV series such as “Caroline in the City” and “Cursed”.

Early life and education

Amy was raised in Milwaukee by her adoptive mother Nancy who is a nurse, and her adoptive father Arnold Pietz who worked as a truck driver. She became interested in dance when she was six, and Nancy enrolled her into ballet classes – it didn’t take long for Amy to become an avid ballet dancer and wanting to go professional, however, she changed her mind when she realized the low pay!

She studied at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, and after matriculating enrolled at DePaul University’s Theatre School, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1992.

Career as an actress

Amy’s debut film appearance was as Melinda in “Rudy” in 1993 – three years later, she portrayed Liza Tisch in the film “Jingle All the Way”. She played Sam in the “You” drama film in 2009 and the next year played Officer Annie in the comedy film “I Was a 7th Grade Dragon Slayer” .

In the upcoming years, Amy appeared in several movies such as “Zephyr Springs” in 2013 and “The Pact 2” in 2014, while her latest appearance has been in the “Saddle Up!” film released in 2018. Amy is best known for appearing in TV series, with her debut being in the “Missing Persons” series in which she played Lucy Stansfield – in 1994, she appeared in a single episode of the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” TV series, then from 1995 to ‘99, she starred in the “Caroline in the City” sitcom TV series, for which performance she was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for an outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series.

The year 2004 saw her star in “Rodney” while also appearing in “All About the Andersons” and “I’m With Her” in the same year. She played a main role as Franny Tolchuck in “Aliens in America” in 2007 but it was short lived.

2008 saw her appear in “Burn Notice” and “Ghost Whisperer”, and she could have been seen appearing in four TV series in 2010, two being “American Dad!”and “Desperate Housewives”, while she featured in “Private Practice” and “The Paul Reiser Show” in 2011. More recently, Amy’s appeared in the film “Hooking Up” in 2020, and as Mandy van Dunkel in both “Dynasty” and “Love, Victor” in 2022, as well as in the recurring role of Kendra Lang in “Wolf Pack” (2023).

Love life and husband

Amy has married twice – she met fellow actor Kenneth Alan Williams while she was still working her way up in the film industry. Kenneth is best known for appearing in the “ER” TV series as well as in “Will & Grace” and “V.I.P.” TV series, both in 1998. They married in her hometown of Milwaukee on 25 May 1997, but divorced nine years later in 2006 – before she met Kenneth, she was in a relationship with her college sweetheart, and gave birth to their son in 1992. As her boyfriend left her, and she didn’t want to raise the child all on her own, Amy gave her son up for adoption.

On 17 January 2010, Amy married Frank Stier, but nothing about the man is known except for his name – the two have been together ever since, and have two children.

Hobbies and other interests

Amy has been interested in ballet since she was six years old, and although she doesn’t take classes anymore, she admits how she occasionally dances at home while listening to music – she also enjoys listening to jazz and blues, and often attends concerts at which those genres are played.

She has her own favorites when it comes to actors and actresses, and these are Russell Crowe, Eddie Murphy, and Judi Dench – her favorite movies include “Gladiator”, “Dolemite Is My Name”, and the “Star Wars” franchise. Amy is a philanthropist and donated an amount to support those hit by Hurricane Katrina which made landfall on Florida and Louisiana in the summer of 2005, causing catastrophic damage.

As a child, she was a huge lover of animals, and her family had a pet dog – after it died, she spent a lot of time volunteering at a local animal shelter.
