There are very few details that have been shared about Marcus’ life before his rise to fame in his field of modelling. Then to pursue an international modelling career, he moved to the US, frequenting both Los Angeles and New York.

In the 1990s, his fame started growing, as he became a regular model for Calvin Klein advertisements. In 1997, Schenkenberg published his book entitled “Marcus Schenkenberg: New Rules” which contains numerous notes and comments regarding his modelling career. It also features photos, and contributions from other people he knows in the business. Two years later, he recorded a song for a friend, which proved good enough for him to sign a contract with EMI. This led to the release of the single “La Chica Marita”, which become a part of the soundtrack of the Robert De Niro film entitled “Flawless”. He cited the project as a good experience, but wasn’t really set on music, wanting to pursue more acting projects.

Most of his onscreen appearances have consisted of him appearing as himself, or playing himself in numerous international television shows. He worked alongside Pamela Anderson in 2001’s “VIP” – the show aired from 1998 to 2002, and was meant as a vehicle to bring Anderson to a wider audience. He then had a small role in the soap opera “As the World Turns”, a CBS soap which aired for a total of 54 years, but he only appeared during one episode of the show. Continued Acting Projects

Marcus continued his streak of television projects, becoming a regular cast member during the fourth season of “The Surreal Life” which is a reality show that follows several celebrities as they live together in a mansion in Hollywood Hills. They have to participate in activities while the cameras showcase their relationships and conflicts. He also had a role in “One Life to Live” before participating in the panel game entitled “Never Mind the Buzzocks”. The show has contestants compete in four rounds of games, and the show was noted for its use of dry sarcastic comedy.

He also had projects in Europe, appearing in Italian shows such as “La Grande Notte del Lunedi Sera” and the Italian version of “Celebrity Mole”. The latter is a reality game show which has contestants work as a group to add money to a pool which one will eventually win. Among the contestants is one that is tasked with sabotaging the group. The show was first hosted by reporter Anderson Cooper. He also had roles in several German shows such as the Bambi”, and “Germany’s Next Topmodel”. He participated in “Wok Racing” which is a game show in which contestants used modified woks to make runs down an Olympic bobsleigh track.

For his personal life, it is known that Schenkenberg had relationships with models such as Maureen Gallegher, Rosemarie Wetzel, and Catherine Hardenborg. During the 1990s, he also had high publicized romances with Mariach Carey, Nicky Hildon, Victoria Silvstedt, and Jessica Simpson. In 2000, he started a relationship with actress Pamela Anderson which lasted for a year. The relationship helped boost him to the spotlight, and he became known for something other than his modelling due to it. Despite his age, he continues to work as a model, and resides in New York or in Los Angeles. He also has a home in Stockholm.

He is of mixed Dutch and Indonesian heritage while also fluent in several languages. These are Italian, French, Dutch, English, Swedish, and he can understand most German. He has known to have undertaken cosmetic surgery known as the Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM), commonly termed as vampire-lifting.
