Who is Kate Capshaw?
Kathleen Spielberg, better known as Kate Capshaw, is an American actress perhaps best known for her role as Willie Scott in the 1984 film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. Born on 3 November 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas, she began her acting career in the early 1980s, having prior to that worked as a special education teacher. Her other notable film credits include “Black Rain” (1989) and “Love Affair” (1994).
She is also widely recognized for being the wife of renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg, whom she met during the filming of “Indiana Jones”. Kate retired from acting in the early 2000s, but has remained a prominent figure in Hollywood through her marriage to Spielberg.

The role that catapulted Kate to fame was her performance as Willie Scott, in Steven Spielberg’s adventure film, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (1984). Kate played the glamorous nightclub singer who ends up accompanying Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, on his journey. Despite the film’s mixed reviews, her performance was widely appreciated, and opened the door for Kate towards more acting opportunities.
In the same year, Kate starred in “Dreamscape”, a science fiction film directed by Joseph Ruben. She played Jane DeVries, a research scientist who becomes involved in a government project dealing with entering and influencing people’s dreams.
In 1989, Kate appeared in Ridley Scott’s action thriller “Black Rain”, starring Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia and Ken Takakura.
