Who is Jamie Flatters?

British actor, screenwriter and producer Jeremy Flatters was born in London, England, on 7 July 2000, making Cancer his zodiac sign. He has 12 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Neteyam, the son of Jake and Neytiri in the critically acclaimed 2022 action fantasy adventure movie “Avatar: The Way of Water”, which starred Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, and was written and directed by James Cameron. It follows Jake, Neytiri and the Na’vi people as they’re fighting a familiar threat on the extrasolar moon Pandora, and the film won 63 of its 193 award nominations, including an Oscar win for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.

Jamie’s revealed that the most interesting but also the hardest part about preparing for his role in “Avatar: The Way of Water”, was learning to hold his breath underwater.

Education and early life

Jamie was raised alongside his brothers Matt and George in London, by their parents about whom Jamie’s yet to speak in public, because he respects their privacy; it’s believed that his mother and father are both theatre actors, but this is yet to be confirmed by Jamie.

He fell in love with acting at the age of eight, after appearing in a school play, and then went on to appear in several school productions, plus a couple of plays performed at a local theatre.

Jamie progressed to Lambeth Academy in 2014 and was into sports during his time there, excelling in soccer; he was 15 when he made his debut TV series appearance, playing Matt Furnish in 26 episodes (2015-2016) of the family comedy “So Awkward”, which starred Cleo Demetriou and Sophia Dall’aglio, and was created by Julie Bower. It follows a group of socially awkward teenage friends, the series aired from 2015 through 2020, and won two of its four award nominations.

Jamie matriculated in 2018, but then didn’t enroll at college, wanting to pursue a career in the film industry.

Jamie played Kieran in the 2016 episode “Nemesis” of the comedy mini-series “Flat TV”, which was created by and starred Tom Rosenthal and Naz Osmanoglu; it follows two eccentric flatmates who’ve decided to quit on their daily responsibilities.

From 2017 through 2020, Jamie played Luke Earlham in 10 episodes of the crime thriller “Liar”, which starred Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd, and was created by Jack William and Harry Williams. The series follows famous surgeon Andrew Earlham who’s been accused of rape by schoolteacher Laura Nielson – it was nominated for five awards.

Jamie’s only other TV series role has been playing Owen in four episodes of the 2021 drama mini-series “Close to Me”, which starred Connie Nielsen and Christopher Eccleston, and follows Jo Harding who’s suffered a memory less, recalling nothing from the most recent year of her life.

Roles in movies

Jamie’s debut film role was starring in the 2019 short drama “Silence”, and he began attracting attention in 2020, when cast to play the lead character William Sinclair in the war drama “The Forgotten Battle”, which also starred Gijs Blom and Susan Radder, and was directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. It follows several people involved in the Battle of the Schelde during World War II, and the movie won six of its 10 award nominations.

In 2021, Jamie starred as Robbie in the short drama “Tuesday”, which also starred Cameron James-King and Nana Agyeman-Bediako, and was written and directed by George Jaques. It follows a 14 years old boy who has to find a way to help his ill mother who no longer has access to British National Health Service.

Jamie’s only other film role has been playing Tedros in the 2022 action comedy “The School for Good and Evil”, which starred Sophia Anne Caruso and Kit Young, and was written and directed by Paul Feig. It follows best friends Agatha and Sophie who’ve been sent to an enchanted school, and the movie won a 2023 ReFrame Stamp for Feature.

Jamie’s currently shooting for three movies: “Black Dog”, “Avatar 3” and “Avatar 4”.

Other credits

Jamie directed the 2017 short action movie “Men” and the 2018 short action documentary film “Good Trouble: What If the Suit Chokes?”, and he then both wrote and directed the 2022 short film “These Spinning Straight Lines”.

Some of his most recent talk-show appearances have been in “Good Morning America Weekend Edition”, “Burning Questions” and “Made in Hollywood”.

Jamie’s yet to speak about his dating life, and his secrecy about it has led some of his fans to believe that he’s gay. A fan claimed on Reddit in 2022 to have seen Jamie spending time with his boyfriend in London, but as he didn’t provide evidence to support his claims and users got into a heated argument, the post was eventually deleted.

There are also those who believe that Jamie’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity British girl with whom some of his fans have also claimed to have seen him, but this remains unconfirmed, as well.

Jamie seems to be unattached as of June 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
