Who is Georgia Groome?

British actress Georgia Isobel Groome was born in Nottingham, England on 11 February 1992, making Aquarius her zodiac sign. She has 26 acting credits, and is perhaps still known best for playing the lead character Georgia Nicolson in the 2008 romantic comedy movie “Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging”, which also starred Karen Taylor and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and was written and directed by Gurinder Chadha. It follows a 14 year-old girl as she’s keeping a diary about her life as a teenager, and the film won three of its four award nominations.

Georgia’s also known for being the girlfriend of famous British actor Rupert Grint, who’s perhaps known best for starring as Ron Weasley in the film franchise “Harry Potter”.

Education and early life

Georgia was raised alongside her two sisters Eden and Alexandra in Swarkestone, Derbyshire by their mother Fiona Watson (nee Tulloch) who’s a vocal and drama coach, and father Paul Groome who was a chef, but who died aged 46 in 2009.

Georgia fell in love with acting at a very early age, and was nine when cast to portray a supporting character in the touring play “Annie Get Your Gun”; it was also in 2001 that she made her debut film appearance, playing Jenny in the drama “A Fish Out of Water”, and Georgia’s been active in the film industry ever since.

She honed her acting skills at both the Nottingham Television Workshop and Derby Youth Theatre, and upon matriculating from a local high school in 2010, Georgia enrolled at Trent College, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2014.

Roles in movies

Georgia played the lead character Joanne in the 2006 crime thriller “London to Brighton”, which also starred Lorraine Stanley and Johnny Harris, and was written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams. It follows a prostitute and a young girl who’ve fled to Brighton from London, and the movie won six of its 12 award nominations. Some of Georgia’s following roles were in the 2007 short drama “My Mother”, the 2008 crime horror comedy “The Cottage” and the 2008 horror thriller “The Disappeared”.

She starred in the 2009 short drama “Leaving Eva”, as well as in the 2010 short drama “Silent Things”, and the following year saw her play Gemma in the thriller “The Holding”, which starred Vincent Regan and David Bradley, and was directed by Susan Jacobson. It follows a middle-aged couple who’ve been attacked by a group of criminals at their isolated farm, and the film won two of its three award nominations.

Georgia could then have been seen appearing in the 2011 family fantasy horror “The Great Ghost Rescue”, the 2011 short drama “Cardinal”, and the 2012 comedy “Papadopoulos & Sons”.

She played the lead character Kelly in the 2015 crime comedy “Taking Stock”, which also starred Kelly Brook and Scot Williams, and was written and directed by Maeve Murphy; the movie’s a parody of Bonnie and Clyde, and it won 13 awards.

Georgia’s three most recent film roles have been in the 2016 short science fiction “Life in Orbit”, the 2017 horror comedy “Double Date” and the 2018 short comedy “Period Piece”.

Roles in TV series

Georgia’s appeared in only three TV series. Her debut was playing Paige Farrelly in the 2009 episode “Powerless” of the crime drama “The Bill”, and the following year she played Briony Grahame in the episode “The Dead of Winter” of the crime mystery “Inspector Lewis”, which starred Kevin Whately and Laurence Fox, and follows detectives James Hathaway and Robert Lewis as they’re solving the toughest of cases; the series aired from 2006 through 2015 and won one of its four award nominations.

Georgia’s only other TV series role has been playing Emily in all nine episodes of the historical comedy “Up the Women”, which starred Jessica Hynes, who also created it. It follows a group of Suffragettes, the series aired from 2013 through 2015 and won two of its three award nominations.
