Early life, family, educational background

American writer, actor and vocalist, Eric John Nenninger was born on 19 November 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri USA. His father is Joseph Charles (Joe) Nenninger, and his mother is Joan Wrobel, and he has one sister, Sheri. Eric is probably best known for his role as Scott Braddock in the 2003 horror film “Jeepers Creepers II.”

From an early age, he found an interest in the limelight. He attended Immacolata Elementary in Richmond Heights, and then went to high school at Ladue Horton Watkins in Missouri.

His first performance was at Immacolata Elementary, in their school play, “Ham.” He moved to Los Angeles in 1997, so he could attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, then in 2000 he enrolled into the British American Drama Academy in Oxford. Afterwards, he studied at the 2nd City Improv School in Chicago, and trained at Lesly Kahn & Co in Los Angeles, California.

His television debut was in 2000 as Jared Chirp, alongside Tracy Middendorf in the episode, “Signs and Wonders” of “X-Files.” Later that year, he was cast in a significant role in Fox’s comedy series “Malcolm in the Middle”, as Cadet Eric Hansen, appearing in 28 episodes along with Jane Kaczmarek, Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston. His successful performances lead him to other television appearances – he was in “E.R.” as Jeremy Barnes, with Eriq La Salle and Paul McCrane, “NCIS” as Navy Corpsman Taylor Henley with Chris Mulkey and Pauley Perrette, “Castle” with Penny Johnson Jerald ,and Stana Katic, and “Kickin’ It.”

In 2000, he appeared as Kevin Dolby in “Opposite Sex.” From 2000 to 2009, he played Officer Collins and Jesse Overton in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” In 2008, he was Captain Dave in “Generation Kill”, and McGraw in “Captain America, and the following year he played Agent Davis in “24”, and Peter Kroon in “Bones.” In 2010, he first appeared as Damon Smythe in “Glory Daze,” which became a recurring role. In 2013, he played Aaron in “Raising Hope”, and John Dessens in “Castle.”

In 2015 he played Warner in “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.”

In 2016, he played vigilante and serial killer, James O’Neill in a season eleven episode, “Drive,” of “Criminal Minds.” Later that year, he played Zachary Wilford III in “Rosewood.” From 2017 to 2019, he played Scott in “One Day at a Time.” In 2018 he played Frederick Hoffman in “Lucifer” and Mitch in “Living Biblically.” In 2019, he played Ryan Simmons in “Black-ish,” Larry in “Santa Clarita Diet,” and appeared in “The Politician.”

In 2003, he appeared as Robert “Bob” Tull in “The Pool at Maddy Breaker’s.” That same year, he played Scott “Scotty” Braddock in “Jeepers Creepers II,” wherein he shared the screen with Billy Aaron Brown, Ray Wise and Marieh Delfino.

In 2009 he played Grant Taylor in “Reconciliation,” he played Gordie in 2014’s “Mission Control”, and in 2017, he was in “Pharmacy Road” and “Amy’s Brother,” as Neil.

He sang “The Candy Man” in “Malcolm in the Middle,” which was originally sung by Sammy Davis Jr. He has appeared in brand commercials – in 2001 in a FedEx commercial; in 2011, a Bud Light campaign, and in 2016 adverts for AT&T. Alongside Katherine Boecher, they voiced characters in the popular video game, “L.A. Noire”, and co-starred as Matthew Ryan in the video game. He not only lent his voice, but also his appearance as the character’s looks were based on Eric.

His writing debut came about in 2019, when he wrote the television movie “SUBmissions,” released later in the year, and in the same year he also released the short film, “Philanthropy,” and the full-length movie, “Labeled.” In 2020, his Netflix series, “Medical Police” was released. He seems to feel a stronger pull towards television series, and movies as opposed to big-screen Hollywood movies.

Personal life

He started dating fellow actress Angel Parker in 2001, and they married on 10 August 2002, in an intimate ceremony with only close friends and family; they are still married. The couple met in Los Angeles when they were both attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Angel is best known for her role in the series “Runaways” as Catherine Wilder. They have two children together, Niomi and James Nenninger; the family of four lives in Los Angeles.
