Shelley was obsessed with beauty and fashion from an early age, and in 2004 she won the Miss Louisiana Teen USA contest, and the same year was named Miss Teen USA – part of her reward was a scholarship to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, plus a contract with the Trump Modeling Management agency.

During her reign as a Miss Teen USA, Shelley was a part of the Miss Universe Organization, and made appearances in various TV shows, while she also made her acting debut in the TV series “Passions”. Shelley previously attended Destrehan High School, where she excelled academically.

After her debut, it took three years before she was selected for the part of Stephanie Johnson in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives” (2007-2017), but the wait was worth it as she subsequently featured in 468 episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated series, and she herself earned a couple of Daytime Emmy Award nominations for her work in the show, in 2010 and 2012. Her career was going in the right direction, and in 2011 she secured another regular role, as Diana Meade in the TV series “The Secret Circle” (2011-2012).

From 2014 to 2017, she starred in the action fantasy drama series “Teen Wolf”, which earned her Teen Choice Summer TV Star: Female Award in 2016. Meantime, in 2014 Shelley also made her film debut, as she featured in the horror films “Unfriended”, and “Ouija”.
