While Rebecca was reading it, he was apparently already on his knee, which gesture really amazed her, and of course she said “yes”. Today, this poem is framed and it is on the wall of their family house. They both remember this moment very frequently and Sanjay says that he was quite anxious and afraid that she might say “no”. They married in Shell House at Ashley Hall in Charleston at a private school for girls on 15th of May 2004. Since they were following Hindu tradition, the bride wore Lehenga and a choli and the groom a sherwani (traditional Hindu clothing). Some of the Hindu rituals that they followed are: taking vows and going around the fire which is called pheré, applying the red sindoor on the bride’s head or filling of maang, applying turmeric to both the bride and groom, or as it is called in Hindi haldi rasam.
