He worked mainly on the Saturn rocket project team, but then joined NASA, and the whole family moved to Houston, Texas, when Victoria was two years old. She spent her childhood in the southern suburb of Houston, located near the Johnson Space Center. Her mother, Georgine Iloft, taught Sunday school at Church of Christ, which Victoria attended. Her father later became the deacon of the church.

Following her high school matriculation, Victoria enrolled at the University of Houston to study psychology; however, she never graduated.

Career

Victoria met her future husband Joel in 1985, when he entered her mother’s jewelry store.  Apparently the two fell for each other at first sight and started a romantic relationship. Joel was already a member of the Lakewood Church since the church had been founded by his father, John Osteen,

Victoria joined Joel in his sermons, and alongside him, attained world fame. She started Lakewood Church Women’s Ministry in 2003, and has her own one-hour program broadcast, which airs on the Daystar Television Network and through a live internet feed. To speak further about her accomplishments as an evangelist, she can be heard on Houston radio station 89.3 KSBJ.

An Accomplished Author

Victoria has shared her thoughts and experiences with her followers through books; her first book was “Love Your Life: Living Happy, Healthy, and Whole”, published in 2008., which peaked at No. 2 on the New York Times Bestsellers list. Since then, she’s switched to children’s books, and has published three book sets published – “My Happy Heart” box set, “Unexpected Treasures”, and “Gifts from the Heart”, through Simon & Schuster’s Little Simon imprint. She has also published a Bible for children.

Controversy and Lawsuit

Back in 2005, while on a flight from Houston to Vail, she was accused of shoving a flight attendant, who later sought $405,000 in damages, while the FAA fined Victoria $3,000. The judge cleared Osteen of charges, stating that the entire lawsuit was a waste of time, and made her of civil liability in August 2008.

Joel Scott Osteen was born on 16 March 1963, and is a televangelist, pastor, and author.

He is the son of John and Dolores Osteen  and has five siblings, He went to Humble High School, from which he matriculated in 1981, after which he enrolled at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. Once he was out of the university, he went back home and started the Lakewood’s television program. From 1982 until 1999, he was just a producer of his father’s sermons, but once John Osteen died, Joel continued with the practice.

He held his first sermon only six days before his father’s death, since when Joel has become one of the best-known televangelists as his speeches are seen by over seven million viewers weekly, and over 20 million monthly in over 100 countries. He has also shared his experience through books, and so far has authored ten, all of which topped the New York Times Best Seller list.
