Molly Grantham is an American journalist and news anchor, who achieved fame through working for WBTV, a CBS affiliate station based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Molly Graham Age, Childhood, and Education
Born Molly Meade Grantham in 1977 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, but spent the majority of her childhood in Pinehurst, North Carolina; she is the daughter of Joseph Michael and Wilsie Moss Hartman and has three brothers, but hasn’t shared their names. Her father died of cancer, while her mother is a cancer survivor.
The Grantham family has a history of cancer-caused deaths, as her great-grandfather and grandfather also died from the big C. Molly went to McCaskey High School, from which she matriculated in 1995, then enrolled at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and four years later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Career Start
Before she got her first paid job, Molly had an internship at the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC-TV), in Sydney, Australia, then following her graduation, Molly got a spot for herself at WTVD-TV, and reported from the Raleigh-Durham community. She worked mainly on weekends for a year before she started sending VHS tapes of her reports to numerous stations across the US, and soon received a positive answer from WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. She accepted the TV station’s offer, and remained there for three years.
Move to Charlotte and Working for WBTV News
Although she became an essential part of the WLEX-TV, she wanted to move back to Charlotte, and she started sending applications to stations in that area. She soon got a response from WBTV News, accepted the offer, and since then has been working for the station. Molly has reported on numerous headline stories, and has created documentaries which NC Gang Investigator’s Association made into 5,000 copies. Some of her stories include reports on cannabis oil legislation in North Carolina, then reports on local gangs, and terrorist acts and groups.
For her work, Molly has received two Emmy Awards, the first in 2008 and the second in 2014 – she has been nominated for another nine Emmy Awards. In addition to her work on TV, Molly has a hobby that she has turned into a profitable business – she makes vintage gifts from wine corks, including picture frames and bulletin boards, and has started her own website, CorkDorkGifts.com, through which she sells her creations.
