Early life and education

Brittany grew up in Lake Forest, raised by her father Michael and her mother Gayle – she has two brothers named Jimmy and Mikey, and a sister named Bridgette. Brittany began dreaming about becoming a model in the second grade of elementary school.

She started reading girly magazines together with her friends all of whom wanted to become models as well. She attended the Lake Forest High School where she was very popular thanks to her attractive looks, and after the fourth year enrolled at the Ripon College from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in government and chemical biology – during her time there, Brittany was part of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Career as a model and other works

Brittany had a promising career in sports, but after she suffered from an injury, she decided to compete at the Elite Model Look modelling event, actually winning the competition which resulted in her signing her first contract, and launching her career as a model.

On 3 September 2008, she competed in the “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 11 reality TV show – as there were two other girls named Brittany, our Brittany changed her name to ‘McKey’. During the show, Brittany was always amongst the first five models (out of 13 in total) who were safe to pass to the next round, and she eventually won the competition.

The reward was to appear on the cover page of the “Seventeen Magazine” while she also got to sign with CoverGirl cosmetics and Elite Model Management. While the show was still on, during the go-see challenge, all the four designers who met Brittany chose her to wear their clothes, however, as she returned to the agency later than it was agreed, she lost the chance to be the model of any of these designers.

After gaining fame, she appeared on the pages of the “In Touch Weekly” celebrity gossip magazine, and then on the cover page of the “Forest & Bluff Magazine” in January 2009, and in the “Nylon” magazine just two months later.

She has since worked as a model for multiple worldwide-known brands such as Mercedes Benz and G-Star, and has walked numerous catwalks at events such as Trinidad and Tobago’s Fashion Week in 2009, and Amsterdam International Fashion Week. The “People” magazine named Brittany one of the most beautiful people in the world in 2009, while BuddyTV put her in 44th spot on their list of the sexiest women of 2008.

Brittany and Sam Alvey first met with the help of a mutual friend at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in 2005 – Sam was working there while Brittany came to watch the show. They began dating shortly afterwards, and four years later, Sam asked Brittany to marry him – the wedding took place in Wisconsin Dells on 19 January 2013 and the two are now parents to their daughter Reagan Quincy who was born in July 2013, while their son Ival followed in October 2014 – their second son was born in 2019. Brittany has since put her career as a model on hold and is currently entirely dedicated to raising her children and supporting her husband.

Sam Alvey was born in Waterford, Wisconsin USA on 6 May 1986 – he holds American nationality and is popular for being a mixed martial artists who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Sam first began playing football and practicing wrestling at the Waterford Union High School, while he also learned to play the trumpet, and was a member of his school’s marching band.

After matriculation, he enrolled at Lakeland College – he was initially focused on becoming a famous trumpet player, but then started playing pankration before switching to mixed martial arts.

His career began in 2007 with a defeat in the second round of a mixed martial arts championship – he began competing professionally in , and went on to have an 11-1 score. After beating Jason Guida in the Light Heavyweight Ultimate Fighting Championship, he signed a contract with Bellator which led to him becoming part of the The Ultimate Fighter.

He has also competed at the Maximum Fighting Championship and Ultimate Fighting Championship but hasn’t achieved many notable results.

Interests and hobbies

Brittany’s hobbies include travelling and she is still very sporting, continuing on since high school – she was an avid handball player, but stopped playing after the launch of her modelling career. After meeting her husband Sam, she began training in mixed martial arts with him, and has since fallen in love with it.

Brittany is a big lover of animals and has two pet cats – she is also a philanthropist and has been working with the Make-A-Wish foundation.
