Childhood and education
Both Kathy’s parents, Marian and Harold Kinney are originally from Ireland – her father worked as an automobile dealer before he died when Kathy was only 15 years old. She doesn’t have any siblings, and can rarely be heard talking about her mother, as she respects her privacy as much as she respects her own.
Kathy was somewhat popular during high school, thanks to her free spirit and for being the friendliest person around – she had numerous friends, but preferred to spend her free time anywhere in nature rather than to go to parties with her peers (which doesn’t mean she didn’t go to parties). After she matriculated from high school, Kathy became part of the California Conservation Corps, and after she was done in 1974, she used her scholarship worth of several thousand dollars to enroll at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2016, after which she was ready to pursue a career in comedy.
Career of an actress and a comedian
Kathy decided to move to New York City to pursue a career in stand-up comedy, however, she first landed a job for the WCBS-TV network, and served as a secretary there so that she could financially support herself. Her boss served as an inconspicuous source of motivation, and she used all her talks with him for her first stand-up comedy performances at the comedy clubs around New York. All of this helped Kathy become a teacher of comedy improvisation – a popular director named Bill Sherwood attended one of her classes, which led to their collaboration, as he created a special role just for her in his movie “Parting Glances”, which was released in 1986.
After the movie became a hit, Kathy was motivated to pursue a career in acting, and she moved to Los Angeles to do so – she won support roles as she appeared in a single episode of several TV series, including “Seinfeld”, “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, “My Name is Earl”, and a few others.
Kathy was a bit sensitive about her weight, as she was a bit overweight, and didn’t enjoy her role of Mimi in “The Drew Carey Show” due to that – however, she got to like it as time went by. Her character was supposed to apply for a job at a cosmetics company, but when she isn’t hired because of her horrible makeup, she threatens to sue the company. The audience loved the beginning of the series and wanted it to continue, leading to Mimi being hired as a secretary in this company – Kathy was subsequently part of the series from 1995 to 2004 when the show ended. At one point, Kathy began losing weight and people around her advised her not to do it, because she would lose the role she had in “The Drew Carey Show”, and possibly many others she was supposed to appear in.

Kathy has also appeared in several movies, including “Arachnophobia”, “Stanley & Iris”, “Scrooged”, “This Boy’s Life”, and a few others, and went on to appear as a guest star in “The Penguins of Madagascar” animated TV series. Kathy has always liked children, which led to her launching the MRsP.com website with a couple of other people in 2008 – the website’s goal is to entertain kids, and Kathy is playing Mrs. P. who is a redhead in love with books, and reads books from her enchanted library to children.
Kathy is also somewhat of a writer, as she wrote a book with her friend Cindy Ratzlaff called “Queen of Your Own Life: The Grown-up Woman’s Guide to Claiming Happiness and Getting the Life You Deserve”.
Love life and relationships
Kathy becomes very secretive when asked about her love life as she prefers to separate her love life from her business life, however, being a popular actress as she is, it is very hard for her to hide from the curiosity of the media.
Kathy has been married to her other half Rob for decades now. She hasn’t shared any details regarding her husband, including when the two met for the first time, how long have they’ve been together, and when they exchanged their wedding vows. Kathy doesn’t have any kids, while most of her fans believe her to have been focused on her career, and thought how kids would only be a distraction for her, while others believe that she can’t have children – none of these rumors have been confirmed by Kathy. It is not known whether or not her husband Rob has any kids from his past marriages (if he has any) or relationships.
Nothing is known about Kathy’s love life before she married Rob, as she hasn’t talked about any other men she might have dated throughout the years.
Hobbies and interests
Kathy has been very passionate about acting ever since she tried it for the first time, and although it takes up most of her time, she still finds some time for her other interests.
Kathy has always been in love with travelling, and has travelled Europe more than the US, as she wanted to learn more about it, as the mentality of the European people completely differs from those in US. She used her acting career as an instrument of travelling, as all her movies were shot in differing locations – she even got to visit Iraq while she was working on a documentary. Kathy has been helping animals since she was a little girl, as she would bring home stray cats and dogs which was something her parents didn’t like, but they were happy to see how kind their daughter was – when she was old enough, she began volunteering in an animal shelter, and eventually adopted a dog.
Kathy also enjoys watching movies rather than just acting in them – she has seen many movies from French cinematography, mostly created by the popular French director Francois Truffaut. She has always been passionate about music as well, and has been to numerous concerts throughout the years, while she now prefers to listen to classic music as well as operas.
Appearance and net worth
Kathy is currently 64 years old. She has brown hair, blue eyes, and is 5ft 4ins (1.63m) tall, while her weight is not known.

According to authoritative sources, as of mid-2019 her net worth is estimated to be more than $5 million, and is steadily rising thanks to her continuing career of an actress.
Fun fact
Kathy is allergic to cheese, which is one of the rarest allergies in the world.

Social media presence
Kathy is a bit of an old-fashioned spirit, and she doesn’t appear to be that active on the internet – she only seems to be using her Twitter account, while only fan pages of her can be found on Instagram and Facebook, and a couple of other networks.
Kathy launched her Twitter account in March 2009 but it appears that she only has 22 followers while she’s tweeted over 170 times.
