The university dates its history back to 1827 and is the first institution of higher learning in the colony of Upper Canada, originally controlled by the Church of England before becoming a secular institution, ad is known for being the birthplace of stem cell research as well as insulin.
After completing his degree, he pursued a career in acting, first enrolling at the National Theatre School which is the center for professional theatre studies in Canada, offering theatre arts training in both English and French, teaching acting, directing, set and costume design, production, and playwriting.
Film and Television Career
Thomson made his film debut in 1979’s “Jigsaw”, and during the same year also worked on the television movie entitled “An American Christmas Carol”. Over the next few years, he would consistently gain acting projects, and had a string of films in 1981 including “Surfacing” which is an adaptation of the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name. However, the adaptation was considered unsuccessful, with many noting that the novel was difficult to adapt into a film.
In 1987, had several projects including guest appearances in the show “Moonlighting”; the comedy drama series aired on ABC starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd as private detectives, and is credited for helping Willis become a star. R.H. then continued to do guest work after success there, and worked on an episode of “The Twilight Zone”. the first of three revivals of the acclaimed series of the same name, which originally ran from 1959 to 1964. His career continued into the 1990s, and he had a role in the film “The Quarrel” which aired in Canada, and tells the story of two estranged friends, a rabbi and an agnostic writer.
Recent Projects and Endeavors
In 2000, R. H. created his own play called “The Lost Boys”, staged at the Great Canadian Theatre Company, while also having another release two years later on the Canadian Stage. During this time, he hosted several shows for both CBC Television and CBC Radio. Two of his projects included “Population 436”, a mystery horror film starring Jeremy Sisto, as well as the miniseries “Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story” which is a fictionalized account of the politician Tommy Douglas.

Personal Life and Social Media
Thomson is married to Laurie Matheson and they have two children together. Very few details have been shared about his wife and their family, as he prefers to keep their privacy intact and away from the spotlight. Despite all of his public activity, he enjoys taking background roles, serving as a director for film and theatrical productions. He’s also worked on numerous stage productions, mostly centered in Canada. He is considered one of the leading actors in the country.
One of the reasons why there is very limited information about him is due to the lack of any strong online presence. He does not have accounts on any of the major social media websites Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. He has mainly kept to himself, and this is one of the reasons a lot of people speculate on his endeavors away from acting. A lot of people thought that he had retired from acting work, but in truth, he has just concentrated more on his work in Canada, as opposed to working on international projects, preferring to be closer to home with his loved ones.
