Corinna Everson was born in Racine, Wisconsin USA, on 4 January 1958, so under the zodiac sign of Capricorn and holding American nationality – she is popular for her career as a bodybuilder, while she is an actress as well. Cory hasn’t been a competitive bodybuilder for a few years now but is still working out on a daily basis.

Childhood and education

Cory was born into a sporting family with both her mother and father doing well in multiple sports – she hasn’t talked about them as she wants to keep them away from media attention but has stated on numerous occasions how they are to be credited with the birth of her passion towards training. She began with gymnastics as soon as she started attending elementary school, which eventually led her to become an avid gymnast and a track runner, while she was also very good at badminton. She was quite a popular girl at the high school she attended in Deerfield, Illinois, thanks to her attractive looks and her involvement in sports.

After she matriculated from high school, Cory enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a bachelor’s degree four years later.

Career of a bodybuilder

As soon as she received her bachelor’s degree, Cory started going to the gym and focused on lifting weights. She entered her first competition in 1980 – Ms. Mid America – and then went on to pose on the stage at the IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championships in 1981.

The competition did not go as planned, as Cory was taken to a hospital due to sharp pain she felt in her left foot – she was diagnosed with blood clots, and almost had to have her foot amputated.

She didn’t allow this to slow her down, as she went on to compete at 13 shows during the next three years winning eight of them. In 1984, she competed at the NPC Nationals and won, which meant she was qualified to compete at the Ms. Olympia 1984.

Cory shone during the Ms. Olympia 1984, and won the competition, winning again in the next five years. She is the only person in the history of female bodybuilding to have never lost a Ms. Olympia competition – after her final competition in 1989, she decided to no longer compete.

She became part of the IFBB Hall of Fame in 1999, and was inducted into the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame on 5 September 2005; in 2007 during Arnold Classic, she was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, the first woman ever to win it. In 2008, she was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame.

• Top place goes to Chyna, who is also an actress and a bodybuilder – she entered her first competition in 1997, when she was named the ‘ninth wonder of the world’. She won the WWF Intercontinental Championship two times, and the WWF Women’s Championship once.

Cory might be a popular well-built bodybuilder, but she is nowhere to be found in the list of the most famous female bodybuilders of today, compiled by the Ranker website.

Cory’s acting career

As soon as she stopped competing in 1989, Cory turned towards acting. Her first notable role was in the “Double Impact” movie shot in 1991, alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme. Her next role was in the “Natural Born Killers” movie shot in 1994, and then “Ballistic” in 1995.

She has also appeared in several TV series, including “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.” but only in an episode or two – she was also part of the game show “To Tell The Truth” in 1991.

Cory is the producer and host of her own fitness show entitled “BodyShaping”, and has written six books including “Strength Training for Beauty Volume 3” in 1986, “Superflex: Ms. Olympia’s Guide to Building a Strong & Sexy Body” in 1987, and “Back in Shape” in 1991.

The two divorced in 1996 for unknown reasons, but Cory decided to keep Everson as her stage name.

In 1998, she married Dr. Steve Donia who works as a cosmetic dentist – they have two kids together, both of whom were adopted from Russia.

Cory has always been very passionate about bodybuilding, and she has always spent most of her free time at the gym, however, she has other interests, too.

Cory has been into boxing since a very young age and had an opportunity to meet Muhammad Ali, who is considered to be one of the best boxers of all time. She was a big traveler during her 20s and 30s and traveled across most of the US while also visiting Europe and Asia, but not Africa – she enjoyed spending her time on ships and used them as her main way of travelling.

Cory is a very religious person – she believes in God and goes to church every week.

She is a big lover of animals and has worked with several animal shelters over the years. She has also worked on farms which took in hurt and severely injured animals originally supposed to be put to sleep.
