Where is Bruno Tonioli from? Wiki Bio
Bruno Tonioli was born in Ferrara, Italy on 25 November 1955, so under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius and holding Italian nationality – Bruno came under the spotlight thanks to his career as a dancer, while he is also a choreographer and a TV personality.
Early life and education
Bruno grew up in Italy, but has also spent a portion of his life in Paris, London, and in Germany – he was raised by Werther who worked as a bus driver, and Fulvia who was a upholsterer, making covers for car seats.
Bruno fell in love with dancing at a very early age, and began taking dance lessons at the age of five. Further motivated by his parents who provided support to him while he was still working on his career, he went on to become a successful dancer, and his name is today recognized in the world of dancing. After Bruno matriculated from a local high school in Ferrara in Italy, he chose not to enroll at college, but to rather entirely focus on his career as a dancer.
Bruno’s career as a dancer
Bruno’s career officially began in 1981, after he joined La Grande Eugene dancing group which was exercising in the capital city of France – Paris. After spending a few years with them, he went on to join the Lindsay Kemp Company based in the UK, and while with them held classes for his own dancing students.
Before he became part of La Grande Eugene, Bruno tried to make his way into the Eurovision Song Contest, however, he and his team failed to win the UK’s competition at which the 43presentativ from the UK was chosen.
While Bruno has mostly been focused on his dancing career throughout the years, he has also spent a lot of time working as a choreographer. He helped create numerous videos for some of the most popular names in the music industry, including Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury (frontman of Queen), Boy George, and numerous others – he has also been praised for numerous videos for the Bananarama music group, which he helped create.
As his name steadily became recognized in the field of choreography as well, he was invited to work on several films, such as “The Gathering Storm”, “The Body in the Library”, “Blonde Bombshell”, and “The Bare Necessities”. At around the same time, Bruno worked as a choreographer for several theatre plays too, such as “Godspell” and “Forbidden Passion” among others.
He went on to become one of the judges in the “Dancing with the Stars” TV reality show, and then roamed around the US for a while, appearing in numerous talk shows including but not limited to “Larry King Live”, “The Bonnie Hunt Show”, “Live with Regis & Kelly”, and “Chelsea Lately”. At the beginning of 2008, Bruno signed a contract with Hollywood Records and went on to serve as a judge for the “Strictly Come Dancing Live” TV dancing competition series in both 2009 and 2010.
Some might call Bruno a writer as well, since he published his autobiographical book in the second half of 2012, entitled “Bruno Tonioli: My Story”. Some of his most recent achievements include being cast to appear in the “Fuller House” TV series in 2016, and being chosen to present his own radio series entitled “Bruno Tonioli at the Opera” in November 2018.
Love life and wife
Bruno has always been open about being gay, and had numerous problems in his teenage years, as he was bullied by his peers who did not support his way of life. Consequently Bruno decided to keep his personal matters to himself, and has only on rare occasions talked about his love life.
He is currently dating Jason Schanne who is a dancer as well, and who competed alongside him in the “Dancing with the Stars” reality TV show. Although neither of them have shared details regarding their relationship, they apparently began dating in 2000, and have been together to this day – it does not appear as though the two are planning on exchanging their wedding vows, but are living together in their home in London. Jason is the only man who Bruno has been associated with throughout the years.

Hobbies and interests
Bruno has been a big lover of travelling from a very early age, and has been all around the US and Europe – he has also had a chance to go to Asia and Africa, but hasn’t spent a lot of time there. His travels around the world made him fall in love with languages and he has learned many of them – Bruno can fluently speak English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French.
Bruno enjoys spending his free time in nature, especially at the sea, or on it in his boat, and is very concerned about climate change and the dangers we have brought upon ourselves – he stands in support of Greta Thunberg, 16 years old Swedish teenage environmental activist who is raising awareness of climate change, and is urging people in charge to change the way in which the world works.
To show his support, Bruno has recently uploaded a picture onto his Instagram account about the burning of the Amazon rainforest, which is the largest rainforest in the world spreading across Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and a few other South American countries.
Appearance and net worth
Bruno is currently 63 years old. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, and is 5ft 7in (1.7m) tall, while he hasn’t shared his weight with the public. His net worth is more than $10 million.
