Shelby Stanga was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, under the zodiac sign of Capricorn on 1 January 1960 –  he holds American nationality. Shelby became popular after he was chosen to star in the “Ax Men” reality TV show, which has been airing on the History Channel since 2008.

There have been rumors circulating the internet that Shelby, the star of the “Ax Men” show, has died from injuries he received while filming for the show.

While these rumors appear to be false, and as numerous people have accused the show of staging many events including accidents and injuries just to attract fans, some of its cast members have indeed died over the years. Jimmy Smith died after a battle with cancer in 2012; Gabe Rygaard died in 2013 in a road accident, while another cast member named William Bart Colantuono died after his helicopter crashed during the show.

Early life and education

Shelby was raised by a single mother near the swamps of Louisiana – when he was nine years old, the Ku Klux Klan conducted activities close to his school, which is why his mother decided not to allow him to go to school anymore. He was advised to spend his free time playing with his friends, or to go wandering in the woods, but he rather chose to go into the swamps of New Orleans. When people noticed he was going there every day, they began asking him to bring them wood and logs from the swamps, and at the age of 16 he had his first job – he was asked to remove a cypress tree from a swamp after it fell into it – Shelby already had a boat, which he used together with some ropes to pull the tree out.

Career as a TV personality and other jobs.

Shelby could have been seen appearing in the “Man vs. Wild” reality TV show in 2006, and he  worked for a dredging company for several years, before the History Channel invited him to be cast in their “Ax Men” reality TV show in 2009, during its third season. He was part of the show for three seasons, and also appeared in its spin-off “The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man”,the show airing for 10 seasons and 163 episodes. However, Shelby quit after three seasons, stating that he wasn’t paid the amount of money promised to him.

Shelby returned to the TV screens in 2018, when he was cast to star in “The Return of Shelby the Swamp Man” – alongside a woman named Angela and has so far appeared in more than five episodes. Today, he is said to be working with 20 different companies.

Love life and wife

Shelby met his wife Donna long before he was cast to appear in the “Ax Men” TV show – Donna is a Jehovahs Witness. The two married in the early 21st century, have two children and are living near Lake Pontchartrain on their property of 3.5 acres.

Before Donna, Shelby was rumored to be going out with a girl who was growing up in the same neighborhood as him – it is believed that the two started dating when Shelby was around 17 years old, and the relationship continued for the next five to six years, however, they split after Shelby became a TV personality and started travelling around the state.

Hobbies and other interests

Shelby is a big lover of nature which is why he enjoys spending his free time in the woods, and likes his job as a logger – he is also very fond of animals and has two pet dogs who often keep him company when he goes into the swamps. He is keen on fishing, and has a boat of his own which he uses solely for this purpose – his wife and children often go fishing with him.

Shelby likes social media platforms, and is active on several including Facebook and Instagram and has created quite a fanbase for himself throughout the years – some of his fans believe that he became a TV star only to get attention and obtain money. He enjoys listening to music while he is working, which is why he can often be seen with his earphones while in the swamps – he is a big fan of the old rock scene, and bands such as AC/DC and Aerosmith.

In 2014, Shelby entered his neighbor’s private property with his axe and after being confronted by the neighbor, Shelby went crazy, leading the man who owns the property calling the police – it was later reported that Shelby cut down a Cypress tree which did not belong to him, and he ended up behind the bars.
