McKinzie Roth was born in Carmel, Indiana USA, on 8 January 1982, so her zodiac sign is Capricorn and she holds American nationality. McKinzie is a journalist who came under the spotlight after she began working for the KGW-TV network, as their news anchor and a reporter.
Early life and education
McKinzie was raised an only child in Carmel by her parents – her mother was a housewife while her father worked as a lawyer. She became interested in journalism at the age of nine after watching TV together with her father and she studied at Carmel High School where she took journalism classes and played two sports which are tennis and lacrosse.

After matriculation, she enrolled at the University in Bloomington, from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 2004.
Career as a journalist
Upon graduation, she started working for Pacers Sports & Entertainment as their Official National Basketball Association (NBA) Emcee – the job meant she was to announce NBA games played by the Indiana Pacers, and she held thje job for two years before moving on. She joined Emmis Communications in 2006 as a midday host, talking on-air with the radio listeners, and hosting the “Discover a Day” mini-series.
A year later in 2007, McKinzie left the network and joined Radio One where she started by hosting their “Morning Show”, and while there became interested in hosting news related to sports and entertainment. Her venture with Radio One helped her progress in her career, and she stayed with the station until 2012 when she became part of the WXIN-TV team, still in Indianapolis with which she covered the Super Bowl, started attending red carpets with other journalists, and had a chance to interview numerous celebrities who attended those events.
Before the end of 2012, she started working for cross-town rival the WISH-TV network, and became their lifestyle correspondent, covering many events such as the Grammy Awards.
McKinzie became recognized for what she doing, and was wanted by several networks, however, after she received an offer from the KGW-TV station in 2016, she accepted and moved to Portland, Oregon where this NBC affiliate has its main offices. After joining them, she was given the position of a lifestyle and entertainment reporter which she has been holding to this day.
Her most recent success was being named the new TV commercial sidekick with Billy Fuccillo, who is the owner of the Cape Coal Kia car dealership.
Love life and husband
McKinzie met her other half Patrick Roth when she was only 11 years old – they lived only three doors apart. They started out as friends and spent time together playing games and being outdoors with other children, attended the same high school, and later went to different universities but stayed in touch. They occasionally saw one another, and eventually launched their relationship, dated for a couple of years, before marrying on 14 February 2004.
McKinzie gave birth to their daughter Lucy in 2010, and the family of three is currently living in Portland, although Patrick often travels as he’s a businessman.
Hobbies and other interests
McKinzie has been a fan of sports ever since she enrolled at high school, and after she matriculated continued playing sports at university, and added guitar and dance lessons to it. She enjoys watching movies and going to the cinema, and her favorite actor and actress are Bruce Willis and Jennifer Aniston, while her favorite movies include “Pulp Fiction” and “We’re the Millers”.
Reading is one of her hobbies too, and her favorites are crime detective books such as written by Agatha Christie, including “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile”.
At the beginning of her career, McKinzie travelled a lot and visited many states of the US, and became very keen on moving around – she considers travelling to be one of her main hobbies, but her job takes her around the US anyway, while she’s also visited several European countries including England, France and Switzerland.

McKinzie has long blonde hair and blue eyes, is 5ft 6ins (1.67m) tall, and weighs around 128lbs (58kgs). Her net worth is over estimated at over $1 million, as of mid-2024.
KGW-TV channel
KGW, virtual and VHF digital channel 8, is an NBC-affiliated TV station based in Portland, owned by Tegna Inc. – its facilities are located in Jefferson Street in south-west Portland, while its transmitter can be found in the Sylvan-Highlands section of the city.
The channel aired for the first time on 15 December 1956, meaning that it’s 63 years old, however, its radio station began broadcasting decades before, on 25 March 1922. It started off as an extension of the KGW radio station before being bought by Dorothy Bullitt, a businesswoman from Seattle. Today, it offers three digital channels – Main KGW-TV programming, Quest, while Justice Network is a 24 hours news and weather channel.
