Kaia was raised in Los Angeles by her father Rande Gerber, who was a model before he became a businessman, and her mother Cindy Crawford, one of the most popular models in the world.

Kaia grew up alongside her older brother Presley Gerber, and both she and her brother were motivated by their parents to launch a career in modelling. They kept their parents company during the catwalk shows they worked on, and fell in love with modelling, with Kaia sharing in an interview how she began practicing walking as model in her room at the age of seven. She attended a local elementary school in Los Angeles, and then began taking online classes at Malibu High School, matriculating in 2019 not enrolling at college afterwards.

At the age of 10, Kaia posing for Versace’s junior line called “Young Versace”, and went on to appear in several commercials, as well as featuring in a couple of music videos. She soon appeared in several popular magazines such as “Teen Vogue”, “Vogue”, and “Pop Magazine” among others, and in 2017 became famous in the modelling industry after appearing on the catwalk for Ralf Simons’ Calvin Klein Collection. She appeared on the cover page of “Vogue Paris” for the first time in February 2018, and then in Spring 2018 campaigns of several brands such as Calvin Klein, Omega, and Marc Jacobs.

Kaia and Sofia Mechetner together led the campaign for Marc Jacobs’s fragrance Daisy in 2018, and in the same year Kaia released her own collection called “LarixKaia”, with the help of Karl Lagerfeld.
