He attended a high school in London, England where he joined a drama class, and became interested in acting, winning his first roles in school plays. After matriculation, he returned to Spain and enrolled at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2007.

Martino grew up playing several sports, and was interested in learning languages, being fluent in Spanish, Galician and English – he’s been criticized for speaking Spanish with a Galician accent.

Career as an actor

He launched his acting career in 1998 at the age of 13, when he was cast to appear in the “Mareas Vivas” TVG series made in the Galician language.

He went on to feature in the “Puzzle” short film in 2004 shot in London, and then in “Maridos e Mulleres” TV series in 2005. He won his first regular role in “SMS: Sin miedo a sonar” TV series in 2006 and 2007, and was then invited to portray Marcos Novoa Pazos in “The Boarding School” in 2007, which is the role that made him famous. He was shooting for the series for three years, and in the meantime appeared in “The Blind Sunflowers” in 2008, and the “Universes” short film in 2009.

In 2013, he portrayed Pablo Escudero in the “El Don de Alba” TV series, and then featured in the “Romeo & Juliet” TV mini-series in 2014, playing the lead role as Romeo. His latest appearances have been in the “Las Chicas Del Cable” and “Se Quien Eres” TV series both shot in 2017.
