Who is Robert Griffin III, Rebecca’s ex-husband?

Robert Lee Griffin III, also known as RG3 and RGIII, was born in Okinawa, Japan on 12 February 1990 – his zodiac sign is Aquarius and he holds American nationality. He is popular for being a football quarterback playing for the Baltimore Ravens competing in the NFL.

Robert Griffin

Robert was born in Okinawa because his father Robert Jr. and his mother Jacquelyn are USA Army sergeants who were at the time situated in Okinawa – they moved to Tacoma in Washington not long after Robert was born, and later settled in Copperas Cove in Texas when Robert was seven.

While attending Copperas Cove High School, he was playing football, basketball, and ran track excelling in all three sports – he broke two state records in track and was in 2007 named the best high school 400-meter runner.

Numerous college football teams from Nebraska, Tennessee, and Illinois wanted to recruit him as soon as he matriculates and he initially signed with Houston but switched to Baylor after the head coach of Houston, Art Briles moved to coach at Baylor – while at college, Robert set new records for track, and began playing football for the Bears.

After graduating with a Master’s degree in communications, he began playing for the Washington Redskins wearing number 10, while he wore a jersey with ‘Robert Griffin III’ written on it, making him the first player to wear a Roman numeral on his jersey. His skills won him the NFL Rookie of the Week award, and he was also named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

On 14 November 2012, he was made the offensive co-captain of the Redskins, and  was named to play in the 2013 Pro Bowl, but had to pass due to his injuries.

On 24 March 2016, he signed a two-year contract with the Cleveland Browns worth $15 million, and was instantly named the starting quarterback. On 10 March 2017 he was let go by the team, but then on 4 April 2018 signed with the Baltimore Ravens, however, he was the team’s backup quarterback, and played in only three games in the 2018 season. As his initial contract was only valid for a year, he signed a new two-year contract with the Ravens on 21 March 2019, and is currently playing for them.

Robert looks up to Mike Shanahan, a professional footballer who went on to become the head coach of Denver Broncos – Robert had the honor to play under his coaching for two years while he was with the Redskins. Robert is a Protestant Christian and claims to have a strong connection with God who, as he believes, has been the ‘most important influence’.

He has been doing endorsements and modelling since he signed his first football contract, and has worked with worldwide-known companies including Adidas, EA Sports, and Nissan among others.
