In the non-fiction series, “The Lowe Files,” Matthew plays himself alongside his brother, John and their father.

The series first aired in late 2017, and follows the trio as they travel through the US, unravelling unsolved mysteries and spooky legends. Although they had described the show as fun and light-hearted, A&E Network described it as ‘deliberate and scientific investigations on a highly-sophisticated level’, adding that the Lowes took in-depth training courses and used advanced monitoring equipment. On the show, they train with government operatives and work with a renowned shaman at an abandoned boys’ reformatory.

The government operatives train the Lowes in methods to help identify images even at far distances. Each episode is around 30-minutes long, and occasionally features guest stars famous in the legends and common urban myths. Topics covered include Sasquatch/Bigfoot, alien abduction, ghosts and apparent ‘submerged’ objects off the coast of Los Angeles. They also discuss the possible connection between paranormal entities and direct human response to stimuli.
