Millie was a successful singer in the late ‘90s, when Oscar was making his debut studio album, and needing help he stumbled upon one of Millie’s music videos. He wanted her for his next music video, and the two met thanks to their mutual producer, Rudy Perez. Corretjer became his music video model, but not just that, they fell in love and on the 5th October 2001, the couple married in a secret ceremony held in San Juan. Since then, the couple has welcomed a son Oscar Gabriel De La Hoya Corretjer, and a daughter Nina Lauren Ninette De La Hoya Corretjer, born in 2005 and 2007 respectively.

Oscar De La Hoya was born on the 4th February 1973, in East Los Angeles, California USA, and is of Mexican ancestry. Oscar holds both American and Mexican citizenship, having acquired the latter back in 2002 when the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles granted it to him.

His grandfather was an amateur boxer, and his father boxed during the ‘60s. Oscar turned to boxing from an early age, and at 15 years old wo the national Junior Olympics Cup. In 1992 Oscar participated in the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, and brought home the gold.

Oscar’s professional career started then, with a victory by TKO in the first round. After 19 more fights, he won his first title, the WBO Super Featherweight, as he defeated Jimmy Bredahl, who at the time had 16 wins and zero losses. Oscar wet on to win titles in five more weight categories – Lightweight, Welterweight, Light Welterweight, Light Middleweight, and Middleweight. He was active as a boxer until 2009, retiring with a record of 39 wins and just six losses in a 16 year-long career.

De La Hoya is a successful businessman in other areas too, including the line of casual, active wear-inspired apparel, through Mervyns department stores, and is the owner of 25% of the Houston Dynamos, US Major League Soccer club.
