Millie was born Milagros Ninette Corretjer Maldonado on the 18th April 1974, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of Jesus Francisco Corretjer and Milagros Maldonado, and the granddaughter of poet and political activist Juan Antonio Corretjer Montes – he served as the Secretary-General of the pro-independence Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. Of Spanish ancestry, Millie’s great-great-grandfather, Antoni Corretjer Caire came from Pineda de Mar, Barcelona to Puerto Rico in the 19th century.

Millie’s career in show business started when she was just 15 years old; from an early age she began showcasing talent and aspirations towards a career in show business, and became the host of the show “La Ola Nueva”, which translates to “The New Wave”. Five years later, Mille released her debut studio album, entitled “Sola” (Alone), which spawned three hits which reached Billboard lists. The album contained two songs of the famous American singer Selena Quintanilla, “Where Did the Feeling Go” and “Only Love”, translated into the Spanish language as “Donde te Has Ido Amor”, and “Solo tu”.
Millie continued her career with a second album in 1997 entitled “Emociones”, while her third album – “Amar es un Juego” – was released in 1999, and achieved gold status in her native country. The song “De Hoy en Adelante”, topped the Billboard chart, and spent more than six weeks at No. 1. Oscar De La Hoya was born on the 4th February 1973, in East Los Angeles, California USA, and is of Mexican ancestry. Oscar holds both American and Mexican citizenship, having acquired the latter back in 2002 when the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles granted it to him.
His grandfather was an amateur boxer, and his father boxed during the ‘60s. He turned to boxing from an early age, and at 15 years old he became the national Junior Olympics. In 1992 Oscar participated in the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, and brought home the gold.
Oscar’s professional career started in 1992, with a victory by TKO in the first round. After 19 more fights, he won his first title, the WBO Super Featherweight, as he defeated Jimmy Bredahl, who at the time had 16 wins and zero losses. Since then, Oscar has won titles in five more weight categories, including, Lightweight, Welterweight, Light Welterweight, Light Middleweight, and Middleweight. He was active as a boxer until 2009, retiring with a record of 39 wins and just six losses in a 16 year-long career.
He had 19 pay-per-view bouts, all of which added a significant amount to his wealth. Oscar fought such greats as Julio Cesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Manny Pacquiao.

De La Hoya is also a successful businessman in other areas too, including the line of casual, activewear-inspired apparel, through Mervyns department stores, and is the owner of 25% of the Houston Dynamos, US Major League Soccer club.
